Okay Everyone,
Since I do not know exactly how to do a tutorial on this site here are my instructions for making Hibiscus flowers. Thank you all for your sweet and very kind comments. The requests have been overwhelming!!!
The flowers were not that difficult and I basically just studied a good close up of a flower and went from there.
I used the 3-petal cutter from the Wilton Fondant/Gumpaste set. *Also, I use a combination of 50/50 Satin Ice fondant and Satin Ice gumpaste for my flower making. Make 2 sets of petals and cut 1 petal off one set making a total of 5 petals. After ruffling the edges and veining the petals I placed them in a lily former (also Wilton) to dry for a couple of days. I stuck the lily former in an egg carton to stand up while drying. When placing the petals in the former arrange the petals one over the other as a real Hibiscus looks. To make the stamen roll a piece of fondant/gumpaste approx. 1 1/2" long and insert some tiny stamens in the end. After drying the stamen for a couple of days glue it in the center of the flower. I painted the flowers and luster dusted them as well. That's it. Good luck everyone and have fun. I love making flowers!!!

We lived in Hawaii for several years. Hibiscus trees are as big as Oak trees here on the mainland... Hibiscus are everywhere. When I saw your cakes, it immediately took me back to our "home".
