While I never had the chance to meet him in person, I grew to know and love Rylan through shared interests on Face Book. In addition to his incredible talent as a cake artist, he had a tender love of animals and a passion for gardening. His love of growing new and exotic plants in a Las Vegas environment was a joy he shared with friends from all over. His attention to detail was found, not only in his gorgeous cakes, but the intricate designs of his flower, fruit and herb beds. Oh Rylan, if only you knew how much we all loved you... You gentle soul will be so missed.

His talent knew no boundaries, his kind heart knew no stranger. Rylan, you will be missed, but your contributions to all of us will live on forever. I am so very, very sad to hear the news about Rylan. I was totally in awe of his talent and not for one moment did I imagine that such incredible creations were made by someone so young. I once messaged him to tell him how much I admired his work and I received such a very lovely message back. I'm sad that he's gone - but more than that, I'm sad that he had such problems that he could see no way forward. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. G-d bless.

So sad to hear the new about Rylan. What an amazing cake decorator and kind human being. I needed help several times on CC when he came to the rescue. I always appreciated his kind words and encouragement! I had never met him personally or knew how young he was. What an amazing talent. I could alway tell when he posted one of his beautiful cakes, they were always flawless. I hope there is cake is heaven. "Hugs" to his family. Rylan will be greatly missed.

We have lost something irretrievable with Rylan's passing. His cake designs were among the few that could truly move me. I always struggle to understand how somseone so blessed with talent could be so unhappy, for it seems to me that, in the grand scheme of things, one who gives so much should receive everything in return. He will be sorely missed.

I too, didn,t know him personally. but loved all his comments and his help on c/c. i visited his website many times and admired his beautiful cakes. My heart is heavy tonight. My prayers are with his family and friends.

My heart aches now as I remember reading Rylan's posts offering helpful advice over the past few years. Such a generous spirit and kind hearted soul. My heart aches further as I remember viewing many of his masterpieces in awe, then reading his own comments of their flaws. Rylan will be missed more than he will probably ever have known. I am so sorry for the very early demise of A very talented young man. i watched his anniversary cake video, that i can sense some sadness on his voice, the wa y he thanked Mayen and everyone who supported him on his journey to cake decorating industry sounds like a premonition...may he Rest in Peace and be happy now that he is with his creator.

I didn't know Rylan but I am so upset by this sad news. I know how hard it is to lose someone close at such a young age. This is so sad! I loved following his blog after learning about him from Cake Central. I always looked forward to hearing more from him. Back in Jan 2010, I sent him an email with questions and he responded right away. I just looked up that email and am reminded how generous he was. We chatted back and for a bit and he gave me great advice. My opening comment to him was “I love your cakes and I’m happy to have found you.” Was a sad tragedy for any person to not understand their self worth. He was a good young man and he will be missed by all. My prayers go out to his family and friends left behind.

One of the sweetest, most genuinely nice person I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was like my own brother and treated me as such on the 2 occasions that we got to hang out. I will miss him forever.

i know i left a previous message. but after the shock sunk in....i looked at the cake on the home page and i put two+two together and remembered asking his advice in the past and how freindly and open he was and encouraging me not to give up caking. this was a long time ago and i remember him asking a question for people to post pics of our first cakes to where we are now. and everyone in the forum could not believe how talented he was and the differene in his cake skills. anyways-i am truely sadden and my heart breaks for his family and honestly for rylan too. i can only hope that his family and friends can find comfort through their faith and each other. as for the CC family and fans of his work we lost such a talented, generous person. i wish i had an opportunity to know him personally. but i often feel we know people best through their work. may you rest in enternal peace.

i am SO sick to hear yet again of a young, talented, adorable, and caring young soul that did not or could not see the bright future awaiting them. We continue to lose these angels among us.

What a shock. He was such a talented person. I'll never forget how impressed I was to learn that an absolute masterpiece I saw was his very first cake. Moreover, he always wrote the nicest things in forums here on CC and even pm'ed me a few times to say something kind. He will be sorely missed.

Very soon after Jene showed up on CC, he I had an immediate bond. Gingerbread, and caking were common topics... yet we shared the love of gardening, and decorating our homes as well. He was sweet natured and innocent in so many ways and I felt protective of him as he was the same age as my own son. Once after I visited Las Vegas I msgd him and told him how close I had been to contacting him while there just to say, "hello" face-to-face. He chided me for not doing so --that he would have me over for lunch. I was privileged to be his friend on FB, and saw that he was greatly distressed this past week. So many reached out to him, but sometimes it just happens that one cannot get through. I am heartbroken that he saw no other recourse. A gentle soul has left this community bereft of his presence. He saw so much beauty in the world around him yet he could not find solace. I pray that he is truly resting in PEACE.
