One of my very first tiered cakes. It was baseball themed for the welcoming of a son to my friends family The cake was buttercream with fondant accents....I realize now, almost 2 years later that my baseball stitching isn't correct. Whoops!

This cake was for a friend who was celebrating her day care We let the kids write the names and design the logo on the cake by using edible markers on hardened gumpaste plaques/shapes. We wanted to keep this cake kid centered and very colorful so we made the inside a rainbow. It was such a fun collaboration using the kids' artistic skills with a more casual sheet style cake. I highly recommend involving little ones in the design process.
This cake was for my nieces bridal shower. I was given free reign on design. It is actually the first time I was given total control over a cake without some outside input or photo in mind to replicate. It was so much fun to just allow my own vision and interpretation to emerge in this piece. It was my first attempt at bas relief, marbled fondant and making dahlias and peonies. I am so proud of this cake. It made me grow as both a baker and an artist.

First time making any type of succulent. Used all gumpaste. Tinted with a combination of a neon green base color with Wilton's juniper green and a tiny touch of teal to capture the subtle blue undertone in some succulents. I dusted the tips with GSA regal purple petal dust and a touch of magenta.
First time making artichokes. Two closed, one blossomed (artichoke blossoms are simply stunning in real life...the purple practically glows) Used 50/50 gumpaste/fondant and a small "mum" cutter for the leaves. I made them on a styrofoam ball with a toothpick so they are safe to stick directly on a cake. Very easy to make these guys.

This was a cake my 7 year old dreamed of. She wanted to use bright colors and have it look like something that came from the game candy land. This is what we came up with. It ended up being somewhat whimsical and to me has the feeling of a pumpkin with crazy hair.

Humming bird to look as though in flight. Made from 50/50 fondant and gumpaste and on an 18 gauge floral wire. Hand painted with layers of green and blue to blend colors. Gumpaste hibiscus are gumpaste and the FIRST time making flowers. Cake is 5 layers of dark chocolate cake with alternating fillings of chocolate ganache and chocolate SMB. Covered in MMF.

Cinderella cake. Dress was white cake with ABC. The round was strawberry cake with fresh cut strawberry and whipped cream.
White cake with chocolate leopard print filled with fresh strawberries and chocolate mousse. Iced in SMB and covered in fondant. The booties are a 50/50 fondant-gumpaste mixture that were hand painted with the leopard pattern.
