Murder Mystery Cake
HUGE Theater was hosting an event they call Happy Hour with The Board which is like a state of the union for the tiny improv theater (what we've done that worked and didn't work, and our business plan for the next 12 months). I wasn't given any direction for this cake's design so I wondered, what if Happy Hour with The Board was a murder mystery? It has all of the elements of juicy bits of improv specifics, an impatient story waiting to be told, and elements of each board members' individuality that seamlessly come together to make the whole. The cake is Chai with cinnamon frosting and fondant/gumpaste. I made my own beer-bottle mold for the poured-sugar beer bottles. The only thing that was not edible was the beer-bottle label.

Titled "Blooming Cabbage with Ducks" because I think the ruffles look like bloomers and the green turned out to be the perfect shade of cabbage. Not bad for my first ruffle cake.

Chuthulu Mask
This Mask of Nyarlathotep Cake is based off of a Chuthulu-themed tabletop role playing game. The Mask was sculpted out of Rice Krispies and had eye/mouth holes that emitted a (cordless) LED light. The "Eye of Light and Darkness," duplicated 9 times around the perimeter, has never before now been seen in its whole-form. It was extremely difficult getting an adequate picture.
