Princess Castle Cake
I made this for my friends daughter for her 4th birthday. She wanted a Princess Aurora cake. I wanted the whole thing to be edible, so with the exception of the little figurines, everything is. The turrets are made from icecream cones filled with melted marshmallows, butter and vanilla - then covered with buttercream and fondant. Thanks for looking.

Red Velvet Mini Cupcakes With Cream Cheese Frosting
Made these for a work "Sweets Day". I brought in 24 of them and all of them were gone. I wasn't happy with the icing job I did. I've only ever used buttercream to swirl icing before. Buttercream does not have small lumps in it. Cream cheese icing does.... so my icing tip kept getting the little lumps clogged in the points causing me to use twice as much icing as I should have. So just incase you ever decide to use cream cheese icing and swirl it - be forewarned... use a very large tip. haha.

Mini Rainbow Cupcakes With Buttercream
These are too cute and the kids loved them. They wanted to have a "rainbow party"... Not for any particular reason...so I decorated in rainbow balloons and flowers and made these little rainbow cupcakes. I topped them with rainbow sprinkles from the Bulk Barn which complemented the colours in the cake perfectly. They were a huge hit.

Whimsical Butterflies
A co-worker was getting married and no one had put any sort of party together for her. We decided we'd better start with a cake and I knew Red Velvet was her favourite. This is what resulted. The butterflies are made out of gum paste and painted with petal dust. The icing is cream cheese. The ball in the centre is fondant with silver petal dust on it.

Bob The Builder
My daughter was really into Bob the Builder so this is what resulted. His ears are WAY too big but she didn't seem to notice. It was done by using two layers of square cake, but cutting the second layer up. A circle for Bob's head, the way too big ears and the "peak" of his helmet were all carved out of the second layer. I used the star tip and buttercream to ice it because I wasn't familiar with fondant at that point in time.

Smurf Pops
These were made as a secondary treat to go with the birthday cake. The hats, Smurfette's hair and Vanity's flower are made from fondant. The cake balls were dipped in blue chocolate and I used smarties for the ears. These are the first cake pops I've ever made and I learned a lot from doing this. They look a bit sloppy but overall I was pretty pleased with them. Looking forward to making more and refining my technique.

Toy Story Thomas Topsy Turvy Cake
So - this is a creation made for my boys 5th and 6th birthdays. They are only 2 days apart so we combine the cake. One liked Toy Story the other, Thomas the Train. This is the first topsy turvy cake I've ever made and to be honest it would have looked better if the layers had been taller, but the boys were happy with it. The Toy Story characters are actually just resin figurines - I didn't make those. The parachute is made out of gum paste and painted with petal dust. The Thomas the Train face is made out of fondant.

Purple Anemone Wedding Cake
A friend from work was nice enough to trust me with the most important cake of her life. I'd never made a wedding cake, I'd never used gum paste or petal dust and I'd only used fondant in my cake class twice. It was scary to do this cake and that's why I did it. The anemone's are done out of gum paste and painted with petal dust. Each layer of the cake is a different flavour. Top - banana, Middle - carrot, Bottom - marble (chocolate and vanilla). There were a few ups and downs with it but in the end it turned out pretty well.

Clifford Birthday Halloween Cake
My daughter wanted a Clifford cake for her birthday (which does not fall anywhere close to Halloween). She wanted it to have purple on it and she insisted on it having ghosts and pumpkins. This is the result. Clifford, her name, the vines and leaves on the pumpkins and the icing on the cake are fondant. The ghosts are super stiff buttercream (didn't feel like making meringue) and the pumpkins are just cake balls covered in buttercream and dipped in orange sprinkles.
