I was asked to do a small princess themed cake for a 7th birthday and I decided to make a small castle cake.
The theme for the wedding is royal blue and gold with butterflies. The cake is actually a royal blue velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. The butterflies are made with edible rice paper. The golden color from david's bridal is actually more of a khaki color with shimmers.....so that's what I did.
I made this three tier cake in grey, black and purple for my mom's surprise 60th birthday party. She loves chocolate....so the whole cake is made with dark chocolate fudge cake. The bottom is filled and covered with dark chocolate ganache. The middle tier is filled with coconut pecan filling and covered with dark chocolate ganache. The top tier is filled with nutella and chopped toasted hazelnut pieces and covered with dark chocolate ganache. I wanted an elegant, but simple cake.
