Gamer's Groom's Cake
Sour cream pound cake covered with fondant (the PS4) and hand-painted gumpaste snacks. I use styrofoam for the base of the snacks, so the couple can keep them as mementos. My son almost ate the Sour Patch Kids as I had them out to dry. Tinted isomalt was used for the beer "spill."

Almost Cake Disaster
I had to cut one of the layers down from 14" to 12"--the icing did not want to stick to the bare cake. I think it turned out OK, but all I can see is that band around the center where the cake slid on the way to the venue. The venue also had a very narrow spiral staircase to get to the reception room. Stress! Glad they had cocktails!

My Indy 500 Wedding Cake
I married this past May 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This was my "race themed" cake. Inside the cake was dark chocolate and vanilla checkerboard with raspberry filling. It had to be transported from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis. It is a miraculous act of God that this cake ever got finished. Note to self: NEVER do your own wedding cake. The orchids were used to represent the winner's wreath. It was a lovely wedding in a private suite at the track.

Hydrangea Anniversary Cake
My second fondant cake. This one was VERY last minute. The Martha Stewart Letters on the front of the ribbonreally helped the cake convey the 25th Anniversary without having to write on the cake. I found the hydrangea at the grocery store that morning for $2.99--it made the perfect topper. I'm loving fondant more and more.

Dark Chocolate And White Filigree Cream Cheese Buttercream
Originally the bride wanted black icing where the filigree is--I mentioned that her guests would end up with black teeth, so we made the decorations dark chocolate. The inside of the cake was dark chocolate and the icing cream cheese, so the decoration was perfect. Am not a fan of these contrasty wedding cakes, but the red roses tied it all together nicely.
