First Birthday Drip Cake
I made this cake for my little niece. She is celebrating her birthday today. I tried to make the cake as feminine and modern as I could for a drip cake. This was my first time playing around with chocolate to create decorations. I used texture mats, flower formers and isomalt molds. I added in a wafer shimmer ribbon and wafer paper ribbon rose to add to the soft feel of the design.

Fashion Inspired Cake
I made this cake for a cake competition. I entered to push my skills and an opportunity to make a cake I wanted as I only do this as a hobby. It was inspired by a dress in the late 1700's. The cake competition was a great opportunity to push myself and receive great feedback from the judges. I know more of what areas to practice and improve my skills and techniques.

Country Chic
A country chic cake. The bottom tier a wooden crate with a double tier on top inspired by a broderie anglaise shirt. The top tier has a hand cut horseshoe. The floral bouquet features juliet roses and peonies. I added in baby's breath which I fell changes the look of the bouquet immensely.

Buttercream Floral Wreath Cake
I made this cake this past Saturday in a Susan Trianos ‘Better Buttercream’ class hosted by Icing Inspirations in Kitchener, Canada. I am so lucky to be local to Icing Inspirations as they host the MOST AMAZING instructors. Susan Trianos is a fabulous cake artist and instructor. She taught us how to do the ombre effect, a drip cake and the buttercream flowers on top of the cake. I was always so nervous about buttercream flowers, but she’s such a great teacher that we put this together with such ease. I can’t wait to try more on my own.

Mermaid Birthday Cake
This is a cake I made for my niece who turned 3. It is an 8, 6 and 4 inch with extra tall tiers. The bottom tier is a scale texture using a custom made scale cutter set from She Bakes Me Cakes. The scales feature an ombre colouring and are randomly shaded in pearl and gold luster. The middle tier is the darkest of the ombre and had a name plaque. The top tier is the reverse ombre colouring and a hand made mermaid made out of fondant using McGreevy Cakes face mold.

Flirty Little Bridal Cake
A different look on a bridal shower cake. I had the opportunity to make a cake for a friend hosting a bridal shower. I was given control over the design but was told that the cake shouldn't be too much bridal or too much pink. We went for a bold black and white design and I wanted to mimic the foil gold font that you see frequently on stationary these days. The host wanted a peony but after making a traditional sugar peony, the style just didn't feel right to me. So I made a more stylized version. I got to try some techniques out as well such as the wonderful Evil Cake Genius Floral Lace Netting mesh stencil (superb) and the Cake Lace 3D mold. This cake was so much fun to make.

Dragon Birthday Cake
This cake was made for my son whose birthday party is today. He wanted a dragon cake and it just so happened that Craftsy instructor Heather Sherman released a dragon cake class the same day (phew). So I learned from her class on how to make this. The dragon mostly follows her design. Some changes were made intentionally to follow a different look of the dragon and some other changes were made due to error (LOL). Anyways, I hope he likes it as my cat is afraid of the cake (haha). My son wanted a scary dragon so I did my best at sculpting a scary face. I haven't done much (if any) cake sculpting before so hopefully the details worked. Since this was a mythical dragon, I thought it needed some glitter but the glitter didn't translate properly onto photograph.

Stuffed Ducky
This cake was made for my daughters 2nd birthday. She was given a stuffed ducky for her first Christmas by her Grandpa and Grandma and it quickly became her best pal to sleep with and go places with her. The cake itself is 17 inches. The body of the ducky is a double barrel tier reaching 9 inches high and the head is hand carved rice cereal treats.

Octonauts Birthday Cake
This is an Octonaut cake that I made for a little girls third birthday. This cake was made for the Icing Smiles program. This organization is amazing and I highly recommend for people to take a look at the website and see if they can become involved. The cake features eight of the Octonaut characters on three tiers. The bottom tier has ocean waves made in a sort of an ombre colouring. The topper is a floating submarine made out of RKT.

Vintage Tea Party Cake
This cake was made for my friends 90th birthday. The theme of the party was a tea party. The cake is two tiers. The bottom tier is hand painted with a design inspired by the napkins for the party. The top tier has cake lace made with a Magic Decor mat using Cake Lace icing. The tea cup and roses are all made of gum paste.
