This is a special cake. It's for the family (a friend of mine) of a sweet boy who was just born last week with Trisomy 18. What a wonderful ministry it is to me to make this cake at no cost to them. Please pray for them. :-)
This was my 1st all BC cake. No fondant other than the decor. I used real flowers and sugar crystals for pixie dust. It was for a 4yo bday. Gotta love the pumpkin in the background! LOL
This is a cream cheese pound cake with MMF that I made for my vendor table. It was at a Holiday Craft fair and a lucky winner won it! She later commented on how totally delicious it was. She has 7 kids and they thoroughly enjoyed it. :-)
This is my 2nd cake with buttercream. I had a quick learning curve in the smoothing technique. Buttercream isn't my favorite to work with, only because I haven't mastered the skill yet. I noticed after putting the middle tier on, that I needed to trim the dowels down another 1/2", but nothing I could do at that point, so there is a small gap between them. Originally, the ribbon was brown with pink polka dots..... apparently the frosting "glue" turned them into what looks like black and purple. LOL I'm totally open to any suggestions for avoiding that in the future. :-P The client's daughter wore a tutu set that matched the cake exactly, so it was a HUGE hit! The cakes are 2 layered. Bottom layers are chocolate butter cake and top layers are yellow butter cake. Between each tier, is fresh raspberries and white chocolate ganache. MMMMM!! I had the pleasure of having a slice and it was totally yummy!
This was for a reveal party. The gender of the baby would be revealed in the inside filling when they cut into it. This one was for a boy!
