I had been waiting for YEARS to be able to take a class with the amazingly talented Karen Portaleo, and I finally did it! This is my sculpture from her young tools class... I am completely self taught with both cakes and art. I have no art degree, and this was my first cake class!

I wanted to make cakes that followed Pantone's spring color trends for 2013. I tried to stay within the linen, dusk blue, and Monaco blue tones, with a splash of poppy red. I like that the styles differ, but they tie into each other through color :)

This cake looks like it has a lot of yellow and green tones running through it, but it's just my phone :) The little boy loves Sesame Street and trains, and this is what I made for him :) TFL!
I truly wish I had more time to make this cake - it's a simple design, but there are details I would have spent more time on :) The hearts are going to have the names of my co-worker's children on them. TFL

This cake was SUCH a joy to work on. I loved every moment spent working on the details. This was for my niece's 8th grade / 14th unbirthday. ;) I was very behind because I had done a wedding cake the day before and wasn't able to finish putting the leaves on (they were to be placed up to the cheshire cat tier) and I didn't get to cover the boards. She was so happy with it :) TFL
This is my very first wedding cake, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I'm usually cranking out character cakes for my nieces and nephews, so I was a bit nervous about this one. It was a gift for my very dear friend and her husband on their special day :)

I made this cake for an 8th grade graduate. It was my first time making a book & a grad cap. TFL
This graduation cake was made for someone from Toms River High School South. The girl on the top tier was made to resemble the beautiful young lady :) The bottom tier had black silhouettes of all of her amazing achievements and school activities.
Lots of work, but I loved doing it! The bottom tiers are cake, the lid is rice cereal treats, and all of the decorations are made of fondant. TFL!
This cake was so much fun to make!! I needed to make an animal cake, so I wanted to make something 3D. I had seen a Disney Traditions figurine and used it as inspiration :)

This was a TOUGH request - leopard print, 30, feathers, and Cinco De Mayo theme lol I think it came out pretty good for needing to have so many elements :)
