Happy Birthday To Me!
While I was home, I made a cake for my twin sister so she could celebrate her birthday! I, of course, am on the road again until the 23rd. Anyway, this edible image is what the moon looked like the day we were born, and on the right hand side is the information on the moon on that day: Illuminated fraction: 53% Age of the moon: 22 days Distance to the moon: 364,610 Kilometers Angular diameter of the moon: 1 degree Distance to the sun: 147,127,107 Kilometers Angular diameter of the sun: 1 degree You can get jewelry made that has the moon on whatever day you want, and they glow in the dark! Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! lol!

50Th Birthday Cake
As truck drivers, we use Trip Paks to send in all of our paperwork so that we can get paid. The lady that deals with those Trip Paks turned 50 on the 14th so I made a cake to take back to North Dakota (from Washington State) so they can all celebrate at work. The whole think is an edible image.

Disc Golf Birthday Cake
My daughter wanted a Disc Golf cake for her 30th birthday. I took my new cake stacker from cakestackers.com and used the 14" cake for the bottom and the 10" cake for the top. After I finished taking pictures of it, I took it apart and added a top border to each (didn't think about it before hand...duh!) so that each cake separately would be nicely decorated. She is taking the 10" cake with her for an overnight stay somewhere on her birthday and she is taking the 14" to work the next the next day.

The two people at the top of the cake our our current Baron and Baroness with their coat of arms and the dates they have been Coronets. The bottom part of the cake lists the Baron and Baronesses for the last 30 years. I also included pictures of the coat of arms for each person. The whole thing is an edible image.

Lavender/purple Rose Wedding Cake
This is the first wedding cake I have ever made. The icing isn't perfect but everyone loved and and said it tasted great! This cake is simple white cake with white buttercream icing with silk lavender and purple rose buds alternating around each layer. I also made a Nascar Groom's Cake that matches the colors.

Baby Ant Baby Shower Cake
A baby shower cake. Since it is a baby shower for a girl, I made it a two layer, Strawberry flavored cake that is pink. The theme was A BUG'S LIFE but since I don't do fondant except for covering a cake (and that is rare as most of my cakes have to be frozen before they are used), this is what I came up with. The baby ant and the baby bottle are made out of Chocolate Rice Krispies and Regular Rice Krispies bars respectively (the idea came from my husband from watching Cake Boss...thank goodness because I didn't have a CLUE as how I was going to get these made and the antennae and legs are pipe cleaners The ladybugs are M&Ms. I googled "What colors are Ladybugs?" and then used the rest of the M&Ms for the border. I put the candies on the cake and THEN drew the lines and the spots. My son had me connect the M&Ms which made the letters really show up as letters. The basket weave blanket is also the first time I have every done a basket weave! The other bugs are plastic.

Wordless Book Retirement Cake
I made this cake for the Directors of the Child Evangelism Fellowship in our area who recently retired. It was a huge cake. I made it a Wordless Book cake with a Wordless Book bookmark to match. The edible images are of the Directors and their family throughout the years on one side of the 'photo album' cake and on the other side was their names, where and when they first became directors and where and when they retired. I also had the CEF logo, Youth in Action logo, 5-day Clubs logo and the Good News Clubs logo (all edible images). Not sure why the border on the top right hand side can't be seen... The other picture is just to show what a Wordless Book cake looks like on the INSIDE! The Wordless Book cake had all 5 colors of the Wordless Book: Yellow (or Gold)--reminds us of Heaven Black--reminds us of sin Red--reminds us of Jesus' blood White--reminds us of a clean heart and Green--growing to know Jesus The Wordless Book is a tool that is frequently used to teach young children about Jesus.

50Th (Chocolate) Birthday Cake
My friend is a Pre-Paid Legal Associate so I used his Legal Shield card as a template for his cake and just changed the words. I printed it all out in my Print Shop program and then had an edible image made to put on his cake. I didn't realize until after his party that I had messed up the text and had added one of the items twice. My friend thought the cake was great and so he and everyone one else missed the mistake that I made.

Batman 4Th Birthday Cake
My grandson wanted a Batman cake. I looked at ALOT of Batman cakes...there are basically three different designs and everyone seemed to make the same thing. I wanted something different so this Batman cake has an edible image. I took a picture of a mask and taped it to my grandson's picture and then scanned it, printed it out and had it made as an edible image.

Yule Feast Cake
I made this cake for our Medieval Society's Yule Feast. It is a two layer cake--the top layer was a Sugar-Free Yellow cake and the bottom layer was a Carrot cake with Cream Cheese icing (which I don't ever want to use again!). It tastes good but it sucks to decorate with it! Each layer is a hexagon cake. The bottom layer, on every other side, has an edible image of the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess and the Baron and Baroness. In between each image, I used icing to put a DL which stands for Dragon's Laire, which is the name of our Barony. The top layer is turned so the corners are in the middle of the sides of the bottom cake (did that make sense?) and, on each side, has an edible image of the coat of arms (which is called a device). The image of the King and Queen is centered below their devices, the image of the Prince and Princess is centered below THEIR devices, and the image of the Baron and Baroness is centered below THEIR devices. Then I made a copy of the Barony's device (double-sided) and put a toothpick in between the two so that I could stand it vertically in the center of the top layer.

Harley 60Th Birthday
My safety director at my work will turn 60 tomorrow and he lives to ride his Harley. He also rides with no helmet so to get him really spun up, all you have to do is bring up that topic and he starts saying, "Let those who ride decide!"...so I knew I had to incorporate that into his cake that I made to take back to North Dakota. I did edible images for the words and I used chocolate pebbles on the sides and inner sides of the cake to kind of make it look like a rock wall with some tufts of grass. I took a picture that I had of him on his motorcycle, and did a double-sided image (reversed the image horizontally so they both matched up), stuck toothpicks in between each side and taped them together to stick them into the cake. TFL!

Funeral Luncheon Cake
My Father-In-Law passed away in May, after a 6month bout with Cancer. I wanted to make a cake for the luncheon and this is what I came up with. The writing and the picture are all edible images, and then I just did a simple border around the top and bottom. The edible image is a 4 generation picture that was taken 3 years ago when we flew our kids out to Michigan for my FIL's 85th birthday. The image is of my FIL, his four sons, his granddaughters from one son (on the right) and (on the left) are my kids sitting in front of my husband, with my daughter holding my grandson (her son).

Mother's Day Cake
I am a truck driver and was out on the road for Mother's Day. When we found out we were going to be able to meet family for the day, I decided I wanted to make a cake. Since our semi doesn't have an oven, I decided to do the next best thing. I called and ordered an 8-inch, iced, non-decorated cake and then decorated it myself. Of course, I left my "Truck" decorating kit at home so I had to really improvise! I used artificial flowers and just bought a tube of icing. It's not the best job, but I thought I'd share anyway.
