Yoda Cake
I was asked to make a cake for a 7 yr old boy... I said yes. Then I was told he wanted Yoda... Lovely. Then they said just make a white sheet cake; atop which a tiny Yoda toy would be placed.... Um... Yeah, right. (The light saber is one of those glow in dark thingys.) I think it turned out pretty cute, considering it's Yoda. Ha!

Dragonfly
This cake was inspired by a bike-ride I took with my bf this summer. We were riding along one of the trails here, enjoying the beautiful day, and all of a sudden we were encircled by a plethora of beautiful dragonflies. It was really neat they came out of nowhere and then they were gone It was beautiful! tfl ~diem

Jess's Grad Cake
This was a graduation cake for the daughter of a lady I work with. It ended up being more rushed than I would have liked... Monogram gumpaste topper broke - so I had to use extra dots to cover the marks where the letters had been inserted. That sort of messed up the neat random pattern. Also would have liked to clean up the sheet cake and pipe a border around it. Time really got away from me on this due to spending too much on things that didn't even end up making onto the cake, (like a gumpaste grad cap that wouldn't set up and a gumpaste scroll that went nicely with it). Anyway, these are cakes that I made, so I'm uploading them to my profile. TFL ~ diem

Surprise! 4Th Cake
Well, I wanted there to be fireworks when you cut into it... but I'm still just a beginner, so maybe by next 4th of July... :) It was really important to me to have all 13 stripes, but boy did it get anoying during the process. Took this over to a friends cookout and at first I think they were all dissapointed because they expected a nicely decorated cake.. Once cut, they coudn't stop oooing & ahhing. I was happy with the result, but learned what to do differently IFFFFF I ever do it again.

Kyle's Cake (@ Kayla's Shower)
When speaking of her shower cake, the bride specifically said, "no chocolate." Her fiance spoke up, "but I like chocolate." The bride, mob, aunts, (and everybody!) turned to look at him blankly and in unison stated, "You're not even invited!" So the addition of a small chocolate (groom's) cake was requested to accompany the bridal shower cake. The surprise was well received.

Pineapple Right-Side-Up Cake
Upon asking my boyfriend what kind of b-day cake he wants... "Pineapple Upside Down Cake!" he proclaims, wide grin - knowing that's not what I want to hear. "No," I say, "I'm a Cake DECORATOR!" ...so I figured I'd surpise him with my own version of his favorite! (Thanks, Anjuli for the Totally Yummy Pineapple Filling recipe! It's was huge hit!)

My First Wedding Cake
I made this wedding cake for a friend of a friend. I'd love to take credit for the realistic flowers... but they are so realistic because they are, well... real. I was very pleased with how the cake turned out. The couple loved it and I got great reviews on the flavor as well as the look. ;)
