One-Derful Girl's 1St Birthday 2 Tier Cake
I made this cake to go with my daughter's "One-Derful 1st Birthday" party theme. I just started taking the Wilton classes 2 months ago so the quality is a little lacking. The bow is fondant/gumpaste and the rest is all fondant. Thanks to everyone on CC for all the help, tips and inspiration. Here are the things I learned w/this project: 1) It's very hard to color fondant a bright, dark hot pink. Ended up buying Magenta dusting powder and powdering all the bow loops and cut outs. But then those pieces left powder on the cake. 2) Don't roll out fondant too thin or it will crack and the chocolate cake underneath will show...like the smash cake. 3) Don't roll out the fondant for the loops too thin or the ribbon maker won't show all the detail. 4) Americolor gels are far superior to Wilton gel colors 5) It is extremely hard to put a horizontal strip along the bottomIm sure there is a technique to it I just dont know. Thanks for looking! Please feel free to leave comments on how I could have done it better since Im still learning.
