Musical Birthday Cake
I made this for my 3 kids' birthday party at a Karaoke Cafe'. They were turning 21, 17 and 15 and wanted the tiers to represent their interests. They are what you call a "triple threat" because they all sing, dance and act along with playing musical instruments and painting/drawing. Top layer is vanilla cake with raspberry filling. Middle piano layer is vanilla with buttercream. Bottom drum layer is vanilla cake with cookies & cream buttercream. Covered in fondant. Decorations are all fondant...drumsticks, paintbrush, piano keys, balls, etc. Lines, musical notes and "spilled paint" are black piping gel. Converse High Top and ballet slipper on top are both krispy treats covered in fondant. Guitar (on other side, not in picture) is also krispy treat covered in fondant. I didn't leave the dowels long enough to account for the weight of the tiers and put too much filling in the bottom drum layer... hence the reason why it "buckled" a little... Lesson learned! Hope you like it.

Strange Requests
This is the SECOND cake I have ever done. No classes, just watching Cake Boss & Ultimate Cake Off. It was for my 2 daughters whose birthdays are a day apart. One was turning 14 and wanted zebra stripes and a panda, the other was turning 20 and wanted "comedy and tragedy" masks. They wanted this in the colors of their rooms, turquoise & brown, and orange & hot pink. This is the strange concoction I came up with. All made of fondant that I colored myself. White cake with buttercream inside.

Bottom's Up!
This is my very FIRST cake ever. I have never taken a fondant or cake decorating class. I saw a demo of a lady working with fondant one day, that's about it. The baby on top is made entirely of fondant as well as the rest of the decor. I didn't have the quilting tool to make the dotted lines on the blanket, but I still managed to make the fringes on the edge. Cake sizes are 10" by 3" on bottom, 6" by 3" on top. White cake colored pink with homemade buttercream inside. I've been inspired by watching Cake Boss. This is where I have gotten most of my "training". I made a few mistakes, but was able to cover them up with the polka dots. :O) I have always been very "artsy." Hope you like it.
