Dora The Explorer
I made this cake for a 3-year-old who loves Dora. I'm not a big Dora fan so I had a hard time coming up with something. I got a party bag they planned to use for the party so I took my inspiration from it. Fondant covered buttercream. Fondant and gumpaste decorations. I think Backpack and Map are my favorite parts! Thanks for looking.

Married In Vegas!
I made this for my daughter's wedding shower. They're getting married this month in front of the Vegas sign. Buttercream with fondant accents. Dice are very hard RKT covered in fondant. The cake topper is polymer clay and we'll use it again on the cake for the family reception later this month.

Zebra & Pink Birthday
This was what my granddaughter designed for her 13th birthday party. It's buttercream with fondant accents. Unfortunately, it fell over on the way over to her house! Because it was buttercream, it sustained more damage than if it had been fondant. I hope the girls will laugh about it at the party!!

Princess Castle
Very girly cake for a very girly girl! Theh party was at a place that does Tea Parties and the girls get to dress up in fancy clothes and makeup. The birthday girl's face really lit up when she saw the cake. 9" square bottom tier with 6" top tier. Towers are fondant covered papertowel tubes and the turrets are two different kinds of ice cream cones. Iridescent Disco Dust on the tops. Mom provided the Disney Princesses which I placed on the cake at her request.

Firetruck
For a little boy who loves firemen/trucks, has a fireman bedroom, and had his party an an old firehouse. Everything is edible except for the figure (polymer clay) and the flashing (individual battery operated) lights. Thanks to so many great ideas from fellow CCers!!! This was a fun cake to do.

Volcano
My grandson wanted a volcano cake with stuff shooting at each other - so this is what Grandma came up with. Each vehicle has three flashing lights and there are also lights inside the volcano. For the party, we also put dry ice inside. Pretty cool when the lights were off! Three layers of cake and the top cone was RKT. All chocolate and buttercream frosting. Details are fondant. Thanks for looking

Stars & Rockets Baby Shower Theme
A pretty simple cake made to match the nursery decor. Fondant covered, with fondant decorations, except the topper is made from polymer clay so the mother could keep it as a room decoration. I was going to put a 'diaper' on him, but we decided we liked him better 'au naturale'!! Thanks for looking.

Just Because Cake
A very personalized cake for my DIL's brother who always complains that everyone has had a cake but him. He's visiting from out of town this week, so she asked me to make him one as a surprise. It represents his love of soccer, his BMW, his job, NYC, his favorite beer, and the heart is to represent his wife, Heather. Triple chocolate cake. Sides are buttercream covered in fondant. Buttercream 'grass'. All decorations are fondant, except the figure is polymer clay. She wanted him to be able to take it home and put on his desk at work. Thanks for looking

Another Rubber Ducky
Here's yet another version of the rubber ducky cake - but that's the theme that was chosen. It's a 12" square vanilla cake with buttercream inside and out. I would have prefered it be fondant covered because I'm not very good and smoothing buttercream! The tub is RKT. All other decorations are fondant or gumpaste. Thanks for looking.

Yellow And Gray Paisley
With the unusual color scheme, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out. The bride-to-be liked the paisley design she had seen on another cake. It turned out a little better than I thought it might. First time using Tappits. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the letters, gray paisleys and lighter gray stripes were painted lightly with silver dust. Flowers are gumpaste - everything else is fondant.

Blended Family Wedding
For my son's small wedding. My first tiered cake! And all buttercream - in August - in Texas!!! Never again. My new DIL now likes fondant! The children really loved getting to be on the cake too. I tried to make them out of gumpaste or modelling chocolate, but I couldn't do it. So I used polymer clay. I love that stuff. The top and bottom layers were strawberry with buttercream and the middle layer was white with strawberry buttercream.

Jaws - My Version
For a 6-yr-old's birthday. His Dad said he wanted a cake with a shark on it. I got carried away. The shark head is RKT - first time for me. I need to work on getting it smoother, but I see the possibilities. The 'sand' is crushed vanilla wafers held in place (sort of) with buttercream. I got a lot of the undersea life ideas from CC. AGAIN, thank you all so much!!

A Guy's Life In Cake
The birthday boy's mother said his favorite things are architecture (he's an architect), his Harley, photography and music. That was the only direction she gave me and this is what I came up with. Representing the 'work' side of his life is the architecture office, with some of his own photographs hanging on the wall framed in fondant (the pictures are the only non-edible part of the cake). Representing the 'play side of his life are his Harley and the building facade is the bluesy Texas country music bar where he had his party. The skyline around the sides is Dallas. It was a lot of fun to do, but it took FOREVER!!! Oh, and from this site, I learned how to make gelatin 'glass' for the windows!! Thanks so much CCers!!

Crossword Puzzle And Chai Tea
For my DIL's mother, who likes crossword puzzles and chai tea. Gumpaste mug (cake inside) and pencil. The chai tea is melted carmels. The rese of the decorations are fondant. The cake was a surprise and it went from Texas to Tennessee and arrived in one piece!! Thanks for looking.
