60Th Birthday
Made for my mum's 60th birthday, this was my first attempt at a 'double barrel' cake which I was very pleased with. It's two 5" rich fruit cakes, loaded with pecans and almonds, torted with a layer of marzipan in the centre and coated with marzipan and white sugarpaste. The arrangement of hibiscus are made from Satin Ice gumpaste, dusted and airbrushed to finish. Wired sugar, pearlised, hearts have been added to the arrangement along with wired pearls and a wired silver ribbon loop. The posy can be removed and retained as a keepsake in the specially modified glass candlestick. (I'll post that pic in sugar flower gallery)
