Starry Night!
This cake was inspired by DreamCakesOnline" astronomy cake. I had made the cake for my son's 13th birthday (who loves both astronomy and all things science). The cake itself is chocolate/chocolate chip with cookies and cream in between the layers, decorated with midnight blue frosting, a fondant moon, a sugar comet, and silver drage stars. Look for the Big Dipper (Orion is there too, but a little bit hidden on the side of the cake). It was delicious!

Mars!
This cake was inspired by Debbie Brown's Cartoon Cakes and was created for my son's 11th birthday (who loves both astronomy and dinosaurs). The cake itself is chocolate/chocolate chip with chocolate buttercream in between the layers. The party was held at the Challenger Learning Center with a simulated "Voyage to Mars" - so we had to have a cake to match!

Prehistoric Birthday Cake
Everyone loved this cake for my 9 year olds birthday party. It's a 2 tier cake (6" & 9") - bright buttercream frosting with the dinosaur sculptures and trees made of chocolate wafer/candy melts (Wilton). Inspired by Liv and Kaye Hansen's Whimsical Bakehouse Book. The cake itself was chocolate chip pound cake with chocolate ganache filling (yum!).
