Simple Hello Kitty Sheet Cake
I wanted to post this cake to help out those who are new to cake decorating. Here is an easy way to make a cute cake for your client! What I did was take a picture from a coloring book and duplicate it onto wax paper in the sections of each part of the picture for patterns. Do not cut out with scissors, just leave them on the wax paper. Then I rolled out the fondant in the color needed and layed the pattern over the top. I then took a very sharp exacto knife and cut out each piece of the picture. I layed a sheet of wax paper over the coloring page so that I would have an exact guide for placements. I just built the picture back up with all the pieces like a puzzle. Use a little dab of water to make the pieces stick together. You can choose to lay the entire thing over the cake as is, or you can roll out another piece of fondant to lay your finished product on so it has a background like I did here. Add a trim and you're done! Simple as that! I hope this was clear enough :) If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help! Happy baking!

The teapot is choc. cake w/ coconut filling. The baby is banana cake w/ choc. mousse filling. The diaper bag is mint choc. cake w/ choc. mousse filling. The fish and all the diaper bag supplies were sculpted from rct and covered in fondant. Whew.... I think that's it! Thanks for looking!!!! Happy baking!

The lights are store bought and wrapped in fondant to look like stage lights. The lady is fondant/gumpaste and the chair is gumpaste. Airbrushed for effect. Lighthouse Wedding Cake
Lighthouse is made from pound cake. The top part is made from gum/fond. The top glass part is actual glass with a smaller votive holder inside. There is a battery operated light inside so that the lighthouse actually lights up. Everything is edible except the glass. The bottom is white cake with strawberry creamcheese filling. Thanks for looking :)

Musical Birthday
Oregon State Fair Birthday entry. This cake was inspired by a poster I had as a little girl with the violin laying on top of the black piano with roses. I've had some inquiries about the support on this, so I've added a couple pictures to help out with that. The main cake board is wooden, and the support rod you see coming up the back is a 1" dowel screwed to the main cake board, covered in fondant and cut at an angle at the top. I then cut out the violin shaped board from a sturdy cardboard, wrapped in fondant, painted and let harden. The bottom of the violin should be cut flat to allow the lean in the violin. Once the bottom cake is in place, screw the violin shaped cake board to the dowel rod, angeling it so the cake won't slide. I used a small strip at the bottom with typical dowels to support the cake. The main part of the violin is sponge cake, and the handle is rice crispie treat covered in fondant. I used small dowels to hold the handle in place through the cake. If the angel isn't too sharp the cake won't slide. For extra support of the violin, I used fondant trim that wrapped the edges of the cake to the board itself. This exact cake in the picture is fake due to it being a fair entry, but I have made a similar cake in the past, so these instructions were from the real cake experience. Hope this helps!
