Harry Potter Bday To Me!
I made my own bday cake- inspired by the artwork on the book cover of Hp6, and by the chapter entitled "Horcruxes". Carved characters out of chocolate "clay". The rest is fondant, BC, RI. Please don't think I am a mess like on that FN challenge- my kitchen space is always clean! The "messiness" of the cake is intentional based on my interpretation of the chapter in book. Thanks for checking it out!

Cakes For Sandra- Trial And Error :)
This cake ended up waaaayyy off from the plan.... another test cake (the same weekend) for a friend/co-worker... I tried: gumpaste bows (i broke the ribbon and ended up covering in bc), royal icing ("doodles" on cake), painting with gel color (over "Sandra"), royal icing tiara (didn't take a picture of the millions of pieces it broke into, haha), 1st tiered cake, 1st time trying to carve a circle for the top tier (i'm investing in a smaller pan, don't worry), used MMF but was so stretchy/sticky for some reason, i don't know how to do borders so i just improvised w/bc... well, she loved it despite the imperfections and it tasted so good.. I learned SO MUCH!

Optimus Prime
Cake requested by my son- I googled and found this amazing cake: http://gizmodo.com/272652/optimus-prime-cake . Mine is [clearly] a novice cake- my first 3-D, my first RKT shaping, my first successful fondant (thanks to CC recipes and advice!).. you get the picture! :) I can't wait to make the next cake-- it will be so much cleaner and more precise; I learned so much. This was a wonderful experience, and my son LOVED it.... Thanks for checking it out, and for all of the inspiration from the cake decorating pros!
