Caroline's Cupcake Cake
This cake was for my daughter's first birthday. I was so happy with it-it was even better than I had hoped it would be. Thank you to all of the other "cakers" who have posted pictures of beautifully decorated cupcake cakes-I got all of my inspiration from browsing pictures, and mixing lots of ideas together. Cake specs: 12" Neopolitan (1 chocolate layer, 1 vanilla layer filled with strawberry buttercream) then frosted with chocolate buttercream, 9" Lemon cake with lemon filling then frosted with lemon buttercream, top cupcake 2 6" vanilla layers topped with a vanilla dome baked in my Pampered Chef batter bowl-filled and frosted with vanilla buttercream. All decorations were made out of MMF, except for bow which was gumpaste. I have learned so much from this site-thanks to all of the wonderful, talented people who wake the time to share their tips and advice.

Philip's Pirate Ship
I was so excited about this cake-it was for my son's 3rd birthday, and he was really in to pirates. It really turned out (almost) exactly how I wanted-until the ship compeletely fell apart! The ship was 2 9in round cakes cut in half-which left me with 4 half-moon cakes. I then iced them together and cut a small portion of the curved side so that it would sit upright. I carved to top to look like a ship and iced and decorated it as such. His birthday is in Sept so it is still really hot and humid at that time here in GA. I don't know if it was the heat or if it just wasn't "structurally sound" to begin with, but I was so disappointed. the base of the cake looked just fine, in fact I get compliments on that cake and I only wish people could have seen the whole thing! Philip was still so excited, and that's really all that matters.

Nikki's Cake
Chocolate cake, cookies and cream filling, covered in vanilla buttercream with mmf accents. Had trouble with bulging with this cake, but have since learned (thanks to so many knowledgeable cakers on this site!) to dam with a stiff buttercream. Wish the monogram had turned out a little better. What I didn't get a picture of was the end result cake-I made 3 silver "Wolverine" claws out of fondant, and made 3 slash marks across one side of the cake, and then had the claws coming out of the slash marks. My niece, Nikki, was really into that movie at the time and this was for her birthday-she loved it!
