Sugared Cake
This cake was a creme brulee cake, and the brides wanted the outside of their cake to match the flavor. The top is pulled sugar panels, the middle is rolled in some sugar crystals that were shaken in burgandy luster dust, and the bottom was piped and painted to kind of look like part of their invitations. I used a bead border to tie it all together. I liked each tier individually, but wasn't sure how they would look all put together, but I really liked it in the end. The brides did too, with a fun suprise in the center... (see addtl. pics.) This ones was tons of fun and it was a nice chance to really put a part of the couple into the cake.

Farmers Market
The couple had their first date at a farmers market so they wanted their cake to represent that part of their story. I did a stucco finish for a more rustic feel and made gumpaste fruits and veggies and signs to look like things you'd see at a market. Third one was fun,a nice little break from the ordinary. Thanks for looking!

Black & Ivory Wedding Cake
Bottom tier is white chocolate shavings. Middle is plack fondant with white chocolate buttercream piping and top is white chocolate fondant with black royal icing piping. I thought that the shavings looked kinda like feathers so we got some feathers to put on top and it also reminded me of a dress so we put the bring around the middle kinda like a sash. Inspired by one of craftycakegirls cakes. TFL!

Simplicity/ruined?
Let me say this was such a simple cake, and I loved it! Then... I think the florist kinda ruined it. I'm going to put up 3 pics, one is plain, one has some simple flowers and then one the florist went overboard. The simple flowers is pretty much the look of the cake the bride sent me. I don't know how the bride felt about the final cake though... I was soooooooo angry and upset and stressed. Not sure what I could've done to change the situation, but I guess lessons learned...

Fire!
This cake was soo much fun! There was a group coming to our venue to celebrate selling 1 million copies of a video game. They sent me a logo and asked for a sheetcake with the logo on top. I then drew up a sketch and kindly let them know that they needed something much cooler than a sheetcake, and they agreed! This is what I came up with. :) Chocolate cake with caramel mousse filling and white chocolate buttercream covered with fondant that was airbrushed to achieve the colors. The fire though, that was the fun part. Iused isomalt tinted yellow and pulled the flames, then gradually added orange and red and a little purple in order to get all the fun colors of fire. For a little extra pizazz we put flickering led lights and an orange led light in the middle. I spent days searching the internet trying to find out how to make sugar flames, and in the end decided to wing it (since info was non-existent!) and am super happy with the results. TFL

Rainbow Roses
This was done for a group of gay guys that get a monthly birthday cake from me. Being gay pride month they wanted an especially... rainbowey cake. But they are "queens" (their words not mine!) so they wanted it pretty and elegant yet rainbow, so I went to this iambaker design... with a twist! Inside is chocolate cake with fresh raspberries and raspberry mousse filling with orange buttercream. TFL :)

First Hexagon
Cake is all buttercream. Inside flavors are lemon/rasp, vanilla/rasp and pistachio/vanilla. This was my first hexagon cake and I wasn't too excited about getting all those nice sharp edges, then I remembered the upside-down method and it turned out great! I don't know why I don't do it more, I think I might revert back to that. Anyways, TFL
