Pregnant Belly Baby Shower Cake
My husband's cousin was hosting a baby shower and asked me if I could make her a cake. She had a photo that she shared with me and asked if I could make a similar cake. This is what I came up with! It is chocolate chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream and mmf. This was lots of fun to make! tfl

Cat In The Hat Birthday Cake
My friend was having a big first birthday party for her daughter with a Dr. Seuss "Cat in the Hat" theme. This is what I came up with for her. The bottom tier is a 10-inch pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon buttercream filling. Middle tier is an 8-inch chocolate chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream filling. Top tier is 3 6-inch layers carved to the shape of the hat, also chocolate chocolate chip cake. Entire cake covered in vanilla buttercream. Decorations and hat base are mmf. tfl.

Christmas Cake Pops
I made cake pops for the first time this Christmas. They turned out great! Made a Buttermilk Devil's Food Cake, then added vanilla frosting to half, and peppermint frosting to the other half. Did not have styrofoam, so I improvised and stood the cake pops up on the plate and had the sticks coming out the top of the cake pop. A big hit and lots of fun to make!

Words Birthday Cake
My husband wanted yellow cake and chocolate frosting for his birthday this year. He left the decorating up to me. I decided to make a cake that captured many of his interests by piping on words that describe him and his hobbies. I really had fun with this one, and everyone thought it was a fun idea. I think maybe next time I would use white or a color for the words on the chocolate frosting, but otherwise I'm fairly pleased with the results.

8Th Birthday Cake
My daughter asked me if I could make her a four tiered cake for her birthday this year, and of course I said, "Yes!" She drew me a picture of what decorations she wanted on each tier and what color everything should be. This is the final result! I would have liked for the cake to be a little neater, but due to a new puppy and hectic schedule, I just didn;t have the time.

Lola's Baby Cake
I made this for the final cake in my Wilton Decorating basics class. My friend, Lola, recently had a little girl so I wanted to make her something special. This is an 8-inch vanilla cake with almond buttercream. i used the piping gel pattern transfer method to create this. I only used two colors (pink and white) so it made it very easy. She loved it when she saw it!

Cub's Cake
My son wanted a Chicago Cubs logo cake for his 11th birthday this year. The cake is a 10-inch chocolate chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream. The small companion cake is a 6-inch cake that I made him for his actual birthday day. (The Cubs cake was for his party.) I used the Wilton 99 cent triangle comb for the ridges in the side of the little cake. My son wrote his name on top all by himself!

Cucpcake Cake For Wilton Basic's Class
I made this cake last night in my Wilton Basic's Class. I used the piping gel transfer method. Zigzag border. I did not crumb coat my cake, so there are some crumbs in the buttercream. I'm happy with this cake, though, I think the purple frosting on the cupcake looks a little like brains. Oh well, it was fun and my kids will devour it tonight after dinner anyways!

Green Wedding Cake
My mother-in-law asked me to make the wedding cake for her summer wedding. She wanted a soft green, very simple cake with some ivory fondant roses. This was my first wedding cake, and I cut the boards for the tiers too large, so I tried to cover those with my shells. I assembled it at her house and therefore my shell border on tier two and three were not very pretty. But other than that, I'm happy with how it turned out. I probably would not have added the leaves to the roses, but my mil wanted them. Top two tiers are lemon cake with lemon buttercream filling, with vanilla buttercream on outside. Bottom tier is carrot cake with orange cream cheese filling, and again vanilla buttercream on top. I also made 24 coordinating chocolate cupcakes with green vanilla buttercream, but I forgot to take pictures of those!

Lots Of Chocolate Cake!
I was inspired by SueB's Reeses Pieces Barrel Cake and made this one for a Cake Walk for my kid's school. They were celebrating the centennial of the school, so I used the school days ribbon around the cake. It is a 6 inch darn good chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling and frosting. The cake was too tall to just pour the m&m's into, so I stuck them into the frosting individually. I love how it came out!

Pink Roses First Communion
My daughter wanted pink roses and something "fancy" for her first communion. There were a lot of firsts for me on this cake - first time making roses, first time using ribbon around the base of the cake, first time using the Viva method to smooth my buttercream. Roses and cross topper are mmf, pink luster dust on the roses. Bottom tier is chocolate chocolate chip cake with chocolate buttercream filling, middle and top tier are lemon cake with lemon buttercream filling, vanilla buttercream frosting. tfl

The bottom tier is a chocolate three layer cake with peanut butter filling and of course chocolate buttercream frosting. The top tier is a three layer yellow butter cake with chocolate buttercream filling and frosting. All decorations are mmf. I had a great time designing and making this cake! It was a big hit! tfl

Baby Shower Clothesline Cake
My sister-in-law gave me free rein to make her a a baby shower cake. She wanted Snickerdoodle cake with cinnamon buttercream frosting, but otherwise I got to make any decorations I would like. This is what I came up with after looking at lots of cakes on the internet. The clothes are cut from scrapbooking paper. the sticks are dowel rods, the laundry line is string. I bought the little clothespins and plastic baby shapes at the bottom of the cake at the craft store. I made matching chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting.
