Minnie Mouse Birthday
My friend and I worked on this cake together for her daughter's 3rd birthday. It was our first attempt at a topsy turvy cake. It looked more amazing the day before this picture was taken...when it was completely finished...and fell over in the middle of the night! We managed to save it, but we had to completely redo the bottom layer, and the rest is a little worse for wear. But we did learn a lot from our mistakes for next time.

Bbq Cake
I was inspired by several pictures on this site. Everything on this cake is edible. All decorations are molded from fondant. The bbq is a ball pan cake. The grill is spaghetti painted with silver luster dust mixed with vodka. This cake was a lot of fun to make, and I couldn't have done it without the help of my friend.

Sparkle-Tastic 4Th Of July!
I made this cake for my mom's 4th of July party...and to try out my new 4" pans :). I wasn't too happy with the ball border. I planned on using my clay gun to make a 'snake' to go around all the borders, but I somehow measured wrong when cutting my cake boards, and there was too big of a gap. Bummer. I used MFF for everything, and sprinkled generously with red, white, and blue crushed cake sparkles.

Almost A Disater Zebra Cake!
I made this cake for my husband's niece's high school graduation party. I don't know where to begin with everything that went wrong. Icing and fondant trying to melt off the cake (house with no air conditioner and 104 degrees outside), giant recurring air bubble under fondant (never happened to me before!), you name it. This was my first time transporting a stacked cake, and I was so nervous that I made my husband do it (thanks sweetie!!)! It all turned out okay and everyone loved it. Phew! Cakes covered in regular and chocolate MFF, dusted with luster dust and cake sparkles. MFF bow and stars/numbers.

Bella's Transformer Cake
My four and a half year old daughter decorated this cake for Daddy's birthday. She wanted to make him a Bumblebee cake from the Transformer's movie, and to her that meant yellow icing. And sprinkles. This is her very first cake, and she is very proud of it, so she wanted to see it on "Mommy's cake page". Thanks for looking! :)

An Ode To Costco...
My brother's coworker ordered this cake from me. She said she wanted it just like one of the Costco cakes...but I just couldn't do it! I had to tweak it just a little bit. So not my fave, but I think she liked it. I am so rusty on roses! This was my first attempt at making them on a dowel. The cap and diploma are MFF, the cake is marble, iced in buttercream with buttercream decorations. I think I may institute a no sheet cake policy from here on...

I Have No Idea What This Is!
I made this cake for my brother's birthday. He is really into World of Warcraft, so I guess that's what this image is from. He picked it out. I was having major issues with my black and red MFF for some reason. The image on the cake is really bright red, the camera just didn't pick it up. The fondant was super greasy, but my kids were crying and it was just for my brother, so I didn't bother to try and fix it, lol. TFL, and hooray for you if you know what this is!

Italian Rum Cake
I am posting this, not because it is beautiful, but because I baked it from scratch, and that is something that I don't normally do. This is a very labor intensive cake, with three different fillings, and an egg leavened Italian sponge cake. I kept screwing up the cake, and the whole process, from start to finish, took me almost 7 hours! Never again.

Faux Flan!
My sister in law loves to make flan, so I made her a cake to look like one. She wasn't home when I dropped it off, but she called me later to tell me that she thought it was real flan, and wanted to ask me how I made it so big! Then her daughter told her that it was really a cake, and she totally loved it. The cake is slightly carved to taper it, and iced in buttercream. I painted it with clear piping gel that had been watered down, then dripped more down the sides that I colored to look like caramel.

Not Just Another Zebra Cake!
Wait!! Before you sigh and think, "oh, another picture of a zebra cake with a bow on it" and move on, listen to this! This was my very first zebra cake, my very first bow, and my very first time using gumpaste. See?? And you thought you'd seen it before! Cake is MFF, stripes are chocolate MMF, and bow is fondant/gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

Wedding Cake Cake
I helped my friend make this cake for a bridal shower. She found the pic in a Wilton book, and has always wanted to make it, so I showed her how to make Michele Foster fondant and we made it. I also gave her a colorflow "lesson" and she made the topper (not in the Wilton design). I thought she did a really good job and it was her first one ever! It totally pulled the cake together.

It's Elmo!
I made this cake for my friend's daughter. Iced in buttercream, with colorflow Elmo, sign, and "ABC" "123", and MFF "torn" pieces around him. This cake was a lot of fun to do, because my friend said I could do whatever I wanted as long as Elmo was in it. I was inspired by a few different pictures in the Elmo gallery.

Red Rose Cascade
I made this cake for a fundraiser auction. It's a 6 inch heart, covered in MFF, with MMF Duff style roses. Some are three circle, some are five. I was going to use them as a border, but my husband suggested the cascade, and that was a way better idea. This cake was so much fun to make!

Aerosmith Rocks!
My dad is the biggest Aerosmith fan in the world-no really, he is. So I made him this cake for his birthday. Like the fingers in the picture? That's because I used a number 2 tip to do the colorflow so I could get in all the detail. I even made two to allow for breakage. It broke. And then it broke again. Fortunately my dad still loved it.

Heart Wedding Cake
This cake was for my sister's wedding. It's heart shaped, iced in buttercream. After the buttercream crusted over, I brushed the cake with watered down piping gel and my husband and I attacked it with sugar crystals. This is also another classic example of a cheap table buckling under the weight of a cake. Look how it leans...
