Cherie's Castle Cake
My sister always wanted a castle cake, so I made her one for her 30th! The top tier is choc mudcake with Nutella filling, covered in milk choc ganache and the bottom tier is Orange and Almond cake, filled and iced with white choc ganache. The towers are paper towel rolls covered in fondant.

Baby Chick Easter Cake
I made this for an Easter Raffle at the Kindy. It was a very quick effort - 3 1/2 hrs from start of baking to finish of decorating so not the best result. Still I love the little chick cracking out of the bigger egg. The chick is a cadbury creme egg covered in fondant. The cake is chocolate cake with nutella filling, covered in ganache and fondant.

Handbag Cake
My first attempt at a handbag cake. Made for my Aunty's birthday. This is probably quickest cake I've decorated - my cousin wanted to help so I did it all in a few hours rather than spread out over a few days. I wish I could have gone slower to make it look a bit better. It is a coconut cake with white choc-coconut ganache (and is very yummy!)

Treasure Cupcakes
I made these little Treasure cupcakes for my friend's birthday since it was going to be too hard to have a cake to cut up and serve where we were. They are just chocolate cupcakes that I cut with a round cutter to get the cupcake into a cylinder and then iced in chocolate buttercream and decorated with malt sticks and mini m&ms.

Black And White Engagement Cake
My sister and I made this cake for my cousin's engagement. It's our first time trying something like this. The bottom tier is two mudcakes stacked on top of each other and the top tier is a single mudcake. All are filled and covered with ganache and then covered in fondant. The design and ribbon are black fondant. To make the design, I blew up the design on her invitation and cut out a template, then used the template to cut out the fondant. We put the hearts on top and the black base on so that it wouldn't look too much like a wedding cake.

Butterfly Cupcakes
I made these cupcakes for my Mother's group. I just wanted to practice some fondant work on cupcakes. I found the idea on someone's flickr site. The cupcakes are actually apple, maple and pecan flavoured with a maple buttercream (so yummy!) These cases were hard to use though - a little bit bigger than normal cupcake size with a smaller top than my cutter.

New Arrival
I made these cupcakes for my brother and sister-in-law to welcome the arrival of their new son Will. Since I didn't know if it was going to be a boy or girl, I made 6 white, 6 pink and 6 blue fondant circles and accents and once I got the call in the afternoon I assembled the boy ones! The cupcakes are apple, maple and pecan with a maple buttercream under the fondant.

Boots And Map Cupcakes
I made these Boots and Map cupcakes for my daughter's Dora party. They're made out of fondant. For the Boots one, I printed out a couple of the same colouring page image that I downloaded from the Internet and cut a few templates. They were really quick and easy once I had the template!

Dora's Fairytale Castle
This is the cake I made for my daughter's 2nd birthday. It took me 10 hours to decorate it! I"m only new so I'm not fast! The main two tiers are choc mudcake with ferrero filling and chocolate ganache. The turrets are jam rollets. At first I tried just using apricot jam to attach the fondant but it didn't work, so then I used buttercream. Ganache is WAY easier to work with!!!!!! The rooftops are fondant that I modelled to look whimsical and dusted in purple dust mixed with white pearl dust. The brickwork is an impression mat that I pressed into the fondant once it was on the cake and the door has a woodgrain impression mat impressed on it (before I attached it). The windows are a cookie cutter that I found in my drawer. The shape seemed to work for the cake so I used it! The party guests didn't realise it was a cake - they thought it was a decoration I bought!

Pastel Rainbow Coloured Baby Shower Cake
My sister-in-law doesn't know the sex of her baby so she wanted a gender neutral cake for her baby shower in pastel rainbow colours. My sister and I came up with this. The bottom cake is a Planet Cake mudcake and the top tier is a Cakes and More mudcake., both covered in ganache and then fondant.

Baby Cupcakes
For my sister-in-law's baby shower I made these cupcakes. They don't know the sex of the baby so everything had to be gender neutral and they had a pastel rainbow colour theme. I made the elephants, teddy bears, ducks and the baby boy and girls out of fondant. For an extra laugh, I coloured the batter of half the cupcakes blue and the other half pink so that you had to bite into your cupcake to see if it was a boy or girl cake. One of the grandma's thinks the baby will be a girl so chose a baby girl cupcake, only to bite into it and find it was actually a boy which was a good little giggle! I used BC icing. The pink and purple were strawberry BC, the yellow banana BC and the blue and green were plain BC.

Princess Disaster Cake
I made this for the second party my daughter had. Her first cake was the Dora Castle Cake which worked out pretty well. This was a disaster! The tiara I made out of gumpaste crumbled - as did the next 5 or 6 versions as I desperately tried to make something that would work. I finally ended up with this very simple-nothing-like-I-wanted version. Then when I cooked the cakes, they looked really funny on top. I worked out that I'd just grilled them! I turned it to oven and baked it for almost the same time again. They stuck a little to the pans but I bulked it up with icing .... only problem was it meant that my top tier ended up leaning after I moved it and moved a whole heap of BC with it! Inside it is a pink and purple buttercake. The pink icing is strawberry BC. I pretty much loaded the cake up with BC so you couldn't taste the disaster of the cake inside! Chalk another one up to learning experience!

Strawberry Dreams
I made this cake for my best friends 30th. She had a Strawberry Shortcake doll when she was a little girl that she loved. It is totally based on VlyIndians cake design. It is a golden buttercake mix and I actually coloured the batter dark pink, light pink and green. The top tier is vanilla buttercream and the bottom tier is strawberry buttercream. She got such a great surprise when she cut inside and saw all the colours!
