Thomas The Tank Engine
There were so many cakes to get ideas from, but one stood out when I got a last minute request for a flavor change. Since the yellow cake was already made, I added the car to make sure the birthday boy got chocolate cake with M&Ms on top - inspired by melody4me. The engine is yellow cake and everything is covered with fondant.

Concert Grand Piano
I made this for the reception of a Piano Concert featuring Dr. Robert Banks. Chocolate BC filling and frosting, covered in MMF. The lid is a thin cardboard covered in MMF. The sound board was done in two layers... red fondant then the gold soundboard with cutouts to see the red. I had a board cut from hard wood in the shape of the piano to insure firm support. The legs are columns covered in fondant. The bench was formed with RCT then covered in MMF. The keyboard was a solid 'slab' of white MMF that was etched for each white note, then the black keys were individually cut and applied. Thanks for looking.

My Pillow Birthday Cake
The top pillow is Red Velvet Cake with Mascarpone Cream Cheese Icing and filling. I had a small swirl pattern press that I used to make texture on the fondant... the middle pillow is Yellow Cake with Buttercream... and the bottom is Chocolate cake with Chocolate BC. All covered in MM fondant. Although damaged in transit, I picked up some flowers on the way to conceal the worst of it.

Sasha's 1St Birthday
Usually, my daughter helps me with cakes. This time, I helped her. For her God-daughter's first birthday she created a bumble bee-topped cake covered in daisies. The daisies were cut using the Wilton cutters. The bumble bee is all fondant. (I just got a better picture from the mom of the birthday girl... I really must get a camera and stop relying on my phone for my pix.)

Bbq Ribs
Cake made for a guy who doesn't eat meat, but for years he's said he'll eat a slab of ribs on his 60th birthday. Well, this is it. Today is his birthday and these are his 'ribs.' The cake was inspired by the one made by "mrsprinkles." Hope he likes it. The ribs are covered in buttercream and airbrushed. The corn is covered in MF with the melting butter in piping gel.

Inspired by BethAnn Goldberg of Studio Cakes, I made this turtle groom's cake for a couple who's nicknames are Turtle and Queen (see her crown on pillow). The cake is chocolate with BC and covered in fondant. the head, neck and legs were formed using RC treats then covered in fondant. I airbrushed the whole thing.

Miss Lucy's 90Th Birthday
Made for a 90th birthday, I hand painted the flowers - my first time doing that. The birthday girl's favorite colors are purple and green. I found a picture (months ago) of this cake and couldn't wait for an opportunity to recreate it. If anyone knows the baker of my inspiration, PLEASE let me know so I can give proper credit.

Heaven & Hell
I made this cake for a themed birthday party. All covered with MMF. Also, the "pearly gates," the "gates to hell" and the angel on top were all made with MMF. I'm still trying to get the hang of my airbrush, but the flames came out pretty much okay. The flame borders were done using the large daisy cutter, then splitting them and making all petals stand, then airbrushed.

Giants Football Helmet
This is a close up of one of the helmets. I used the Wilton Mini Ball cake pans, put two together with BC, covered in MMF and air-brushed color. The 'grills' were the hardest parts. I made a bunch of them - they kept breaking. (I'll try gumpaste next time.) The team logos are printed transfers. I put them on with a little BC - a bit messy, but it worked. Any ideas for putting transfers on fondant?

Super Bowl Xlii
I made this for a friend's super bowl party. I should have made the trophy out of Rice Krispies Treats (but I've never worked with that before). The football was molded in chocolate then airbrushed silver. The rest of the cake was covered in MMF - same for the helmets. I've put up a closeup of the Giants' helmet. (Mercy me... I have to buy a good camera, these phone pixs aren't that good)
