Giraffe In A Tutu
This was for my daughter's baby shower. The theme was "tutus" (she used to be a dancer). My daughter is certain her baby will be a dancer but my son-in-law (who is a soccer player/fanatic) is just as certain she will play soccer. My daughter also loves giraffes, so............this is what I came up with. A giraffe wearing a tutu with her soccer ball near at hand. The top tier of the cake is also wearing a tutu. Hope you enjoy.

Hunter's 1St Bd Cars Cake
Cake is a 10" french vanilla with pineapple chiffon filling, covered in WC ganache and then fondant. Cars on top were purchased, everything else is gumpaste or fondant. Banner was hand painted (which is why my checkerboards are two different sizes). Inspiration from many cakes here on CC.

Julie's Baby Shower
For a friend's daughter. WASC cake w/peach filling. Iced in white chocolate ganache under fondant. Her theme for the nursery is monkeys so she wanted that theme for the shower as well. All decorations are either fondant or gumpaste except the monkey who is modeling chocolate. This was inspired by another cake here on CC by cakesandcandy and by a cake in the book Confetti Cakes for Kids.

With This Ring Bridal Shower Cake
For my daughter's bridal shower. 10" & 8" squares. Her choice of confetti cake w/Bavarian cream filling. White chocolate ganache under fondant (Jennifer Dontz recipe). The decorations were gumpaste and fondant. The initial on top I did freehand (my first attempt at that) and it mimics the wedding invitation. This was inspired by two cakes I saw in a forum post but I can't remember the names of the decorators (sorry) but it was the forum post about the cake looking too much like the picture the bride provided. My cake cannot compete with those two cakes as they were absolutely beautiful but this is my take on it.

Jessica & Charlie's Shower Cake
This was for my daughter's shower. Her fiance is a soccer player/fanatic and she is the ultimate fashionista. I wanted to reflect that but also to have a pretty cake as well so I decided to combine two designs I liked a lot from fellow CCers. Thank you to Makeitmemorable and jsmith for their great inspirations. The cakes were 10" bottom chocolate w/chocolate bavarian cream filling, the top was 8" french vanilla w/Bavarian cream filling. Ganache under fondant (Jennifer Dontz's recipe). The soccer ball and shoe were modeled with gumpaste and mounted on a covered piece of cakeboard because nothing else would have been able to support the weight. All other decorations were fondant or gumpaste.

Lanie's Baby Shower Cake
8" & 4" covered in fondant w/fondant accents. Bottom cake is marble w/white chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries filling. Top cake is sugar-free vanilla (mom-to-be has gestational diabetes) with a sugar-free icing under a very thin layer of fondant. The sugar-free icing was terrible to work with and didn't look too good under the fondant but served the purpose. I forgot to take my little foam pieces out of the top daisy before taking my pics!

Jennifer's Anenomes
I made these anenomes as the topper for my best friend's daughter's wedding cake. It was an out of town wedding so I didn't want to deal with transporting a cake 4 hours away so they had a local baker make the cake (which was gorgeous) and I placed the anenomes on top when I arrived. It worked out pretty well. They are made from gumpaste.

Jennifer's Baby Shower Cake
10" & 6" French vanilla filled with pineapple chiffon filling. Iced w/white chocolate ganache and covered in MFF. All decorations gumpaste. This cake was patterned after the invitation. The leopard design was hand painted. The baby was from a mold and detailed with petal dust. The flowers are hydrangeas. The letters were a cutter set that was made for the letters to be interlocking.

Bible Cake #4
This was actually for a display for my cake club's annual extravaganza and it won the People's Choice Award. My first cake related award and very special to me because it was from my fellow cakers. The teacup was modeled after the one featured in the last issue of ACD magazine. All of the components are gumpaste except the lenses on the glasses which are gelatin.

Sarah's Castle
This was for my grand daughter's 4th birthday and she loved it. It was the product of a Kelly Lance class. The castle is a technique I have never done before called bas relief (kind of a 2-D effect) done in gumpaste. The background and details are handpainted and all the accents are done in gumpaste.
