Floundering Around
This was an 11x15 sheetcake with fondant wood planks and a RKT fish covered in fondant. This was a groom's cake for an avid fisherman who particularly loved flounder. The bride specifically requested that the fish be a little less "dark" than what a real fish might be, so while the colors are still "realistic", I kept them lighter than what it might look like just freshly caught.

Daniel's Tower
This was a 2-tier cake with the UT tower replicated for the top. While I normally prefer to do everything edible for my cakes, the tower WAS a styrofoam base with fondant detailing. This was for 3 reasons... 1) Time ... I couldn't do the groom's cake all edible AND the wedding cake for the same weekend... too much detail; 2) I had a broken arm ... which greatly contributed to #1; and 3) The groom wanted to keep it. They are currently making a plexiglass case for it and it will be displayed on their mantle for as many years as he can keep it!

Dinosaur
This was a sculpted dinosaur cake that I created in a class taught by Dena Bryngelson this past weekend. It wasn't quite finished, as we ran out of time to finish the boards. It was a pvc structure with crispy rice cereal treats for the legs and tail and neck, with the cake being the bulk of the body.

Fly Me To The Moon
This was a 2-tiered cake with a 2-layer 10" round base and a 1-layer 8" round on top of it and a "half ball" planet for the top. It was covered with a blue fondant and the planets and stars were cut out of fondant and attached. The red and white tiles were cut from fondant and placed one at a time around the base. The rocket was hand molded and entirely edible except for the sucker stick holding it up. This cake was inspired by Arnett18 who did the "original" that we found here on CC!

Ben's Blue Cowboy Hat
This was a 2-layer 16" square iced with buttercream and covered with a fondant bandana that was all hand-piped with royal icing or with edible marker. On top of it was a 2-layer oval cake for the cowboy hat, covered with fondant. It was made blue to match the birthday boy's blue hat. I hated that this cake had the "bulge" between the layers! I usually don't get that, but this cake just kept settling! The pieces around the cake are made of fondant and were either hand-cut or hand-molded and colored with edible markers. The skull was candy clay and I had a mold for that.
