Yellow Roses And Ribbon
This was made for a 55th anniversary but they wanted it to look more like a wedding cake. The daughter couldn't remember if they had specific wedding colors so she told me that her dad liked yellow roses and her mom wore a green dress (or something like that). They are the sweetest and funniest couple I know so I didn't want the cake to look "too mature". Chocolate cake, cinnamon filling, buttercream icing and fondant roses, filler flowers, and leaves with gold luster dust.

Sharon Wannabe
This is my "Sharon wannabe" cake. I used sugarshacks icing and her "tips" ... still don't have her DVD but I'm hoping to get it here soon (how many days till Christmas??) Still see a lot of imperfections ... but so much better (and less stressful) than a lot of my cake!! :) Thanks Sharon!!!

Pansy Christmas
This is a vanilla spice cake with cinnamon buttercream. Royal icing pansies and buttercream leaves. I had intended for this to be "fall thememed" ... but by the time it was finished it was extrememly Christmas like ... thankfully it was a spur-of-the moment donated cake and it's after Thanksgiving! :)

Thanksgiving Table
I want to thank Danielle111 for the inspiration of the cake. I pretty much copied her cake (added a pie, and some cranberry sauce, and ran out room for placemats). Was a big hit last night! Well, anything that you set on fire has to be great, right? :) I have a love for doing houses and this was just perfect!

Black And White And Fall
This is a sixteen, twelve, eight, and ?? (I just made it up). Had no clue what I was working with until I got to the site ... loved the colors ... still need lots of practice on my corners!! Took the advice on here and made my black several days in advance ... darkened very well!

Wedding Cakes
This set up is from Wilton ... but I changed the pattern. Scrollwork done with a tip#5. All buttercream with fresh flowers and candles. (If I had done the florals I would have put a "flicker candle" in the top pillar section ... but on the whole I was pleased.) This was a pain in many ways, but set up quick and easy! The wedding program read: "Wedding cakes: *** *** " Just how many cakes does one wedding party need? :)

July Basket
We had a church function this September with the theme of "Faith, Freedom, and Liberty. I just had to try one of these basket cakes ... FUN!!! I practically threw this together (cheated and used silk flowers) but even with the limited timing, I was very happy with the results. The best part was when one of the little girls kept telling this lady, "Look at her cake!!" and the lady got real frustrated ... "THERE IS NO CAKE!" (Priceless!!) Fondant handles.

Lola ...
This was a cake for a lady I've never met ... and I didn't have much direction for it ... well, that was fine with me because I wanted to use up some of my RI pansies and do a "fall" cake. The lady paying for the cake loved it and commented on how great it was that I did a "fall theme" -- good, I made a good move!! :)

The Thrown Together
This was done for a girl who didn't want to give any impute in her wedding. Very rare!! So I did the "chunky elegant" look ... didn't know what flowers I was going to have and didn't have a topper. The night before the wedding I finally convinced her to go and buy a topper ... after the initial shock I really liked the look (added silver curling ribbon to pull it together.) In the end everyone was happy!

The Picket Fence
I am SO glad that you can see the tea set, tree, and picket fence all in this picture!! The new "terms" are a little scary! Well, here is the back and probably my favorite side of this cake! The picket fence was worth every minute of frustration that the silver balls gave me! I was so afraid the judges wouldn't see it! And the little tea set was SO much fun!! =) ... Fondant and gumpaste

House Of Dreams Goes To The Fair!!
This is my "House of Dreams" cake ... a little more realistic and less "romantic" ... but I hope still cute! I am very happy about this cake. I worked with a dear young friend of mine and let her choose the colors! It also was able to make it's debut at the Fair ... and WON 1st and Grand Champion!!! Both of us were so happy! She gets half my winnings ... a whole $1.25!! WOW!! =)

My Fair Cake!!
This is the cake that I've been posting in "parts" ... I've never been to a county fair before so I was clueless of what to do. Since I love RI flowers and moved to WI, I did the flowers that bloomed this sping ... lilacs, pink crabapple, violets (state flower), and bridal veil. It was so time consuming but VERY addictive. It was too "busy" for me, but I was thrilled to place 1st, Grand Champion, and Best of Show!! Thanks everyone for your advice and inspiration!

Narnia Sword Birthday Cake
Buttercream cake with fondant "sword" and chocolate plaque. The birthday boy had two parties and wanted a Narnia sword at one and a Narnia shield at the other ... took forever but the little boy is always so appreciative for everything that I always have fun doing his cakes!

Simple Country Basketweave
This is actually my favorite shower cake ... which is funny considering how clueless I was when the bride-to-be demanded that there be no flowers! This si just buttercream basketweave with a small grapevine wreath and bow... the heart has small greenery wrapped around it. She loved it =)

Apple Blossom Basketweave
All white wedding cake. Buttercream basketweave on hexagon cakes. White RI apple blossoms. I loved this cake and wish I had been able to get the professional picture ... it was hard to get the light right so that you could see the apple blossoms on the middle tier and on the corners ... but if you look really hard you can see them =)
