Ocean Snorkellor Cake
This ocean themed snorkeling cake was for a 40th birthday. The fish and coral were custom shaped out of fondant, and the shells were made using a silicon mold. These accents were airbrushed lightly first, then finishing details added by hand using a paintbrush. The figure/man is made out of fondant, in segments, to look like he is in water. The cake topper is made of modeling chocolate covered in fondant with gum paste accents.

Modern Geometric Dark Chocolate Wedding Cake
Specs: Cake is covered in dark chocolate Satin Ice fondant. Topper is made of dark chocolate. Gumpaste flowers with the centers painted black using powdered food coloring. The red balls were made of coating chocolate painted red using powdered food colouring. The curly accents are made of dark modeling chocolate. All the tiers were of chocolate cake filled with chocolate Swiss butter cream (minus boards and dowels of course) â except for the bottom half of the sphere, which was styrofoam. There is a pole that is attached from the base of the cake and goes up through the bottom tier and the sphere and is attached to another base that the top two tiers sit on. Thanks for looking!

Sushi Cake!
I started with covering the rice shape in a thin layer of fondant. I cut out rice pieces and glued them on one-by-one so that they fit snug. Then I added the shrimp top and lightly sculpted it, and added the gumpaste tail. The colour of the shrimp was hand painted. The nori is a thin piece of 50/50 gumpaste fondant that was hand painted with extra green and black then cut out and wrapped around. The wasabi is just fondant. It was difficult to do to get that smushed-but-not-too-much look right. The ginger and plastic grass are gumpaste.

Fishcake!
After 5 years of being together, this was the first time I made my boyfriend a cake! For his 30th birthday - a good reason. Brought it to a restaurant for the party, and some of the waitstaff were wondering when on earth did they start serving raw fish on the menu! Scales were made using a new (never ever used ;) ) bath scrubbie that I had cut a piece off of and wrapped around my fondant smoother. I tried Michele's Foster's Fondant recipe - tasted great and was easy to work with.

Food Cake
My favourtire type of cake to decorate! All carved out of floral foam. Single 7/8 inch wooden dowel in the center, secured into wooden base. Measures about 18" high. The relish was made of green fondant, painted on one side, cut up into squares, then some piping gel on top for shine. The beef was made by cutting thin circles of fondant, folding and stacking them, painting the edges a darker brown, then adding shine with gelatin. Real cinnamon sugar on the donuts. :)

Topsy-Turvy Community Cake For Competition
This cake won the Community Award in the L'arche 2009 Cake Walk competition. The theme this year was "Friendship." I decorated (or drew?) this cake all in icing. The competition was a fundraiser for L'arche and their homes for people with developmental disabilities.
