50Th Birthday Theatre Cake
This is a cake for my dear college friend of 32 years, for her 50th birthday. It had to be theatre related, go with the black, gold and red decorations, as well as incorporate her favorite color purple, and polka dots. She also likes irises. I ended up ordering a custom styrofoam dummy for the theatre room, and it worked great! The top and bottom two tiers are cake, iced in buttercream. Gumpaste roses and irises, gold cake lace, and watercolor buttercream were used to decorate the tiers. I used edible images of irises (her favorite flower) as the paintings in the room. I also added lights, since it was dark in there. She loved it! I had to transport it in three sections, but luckily everything came together perfectly!

Pittsburgh Steelers/music Cake
This was a cake for a 50th birthday, incorporating his love of the Steelers and music. I just learned how to do make cake lace, so I used that technique for the music on the third tier. Everything was iced in buttercream except the bottom tier was covered in fondant piano keys. The helmet was made from rice krispie treats, and covered in fondant.

Aspen/mountains Fall Cake
This was my daughter's birthday cake this year. She always designs her cake, and I have to figure out how to make it! This year she went pretty simple, but everything had to be buttercream. It would've been easy to do the mountains out of fondant, but I did it from buttercream. The aspens were a challenge, but I love how they came out!

3-D R2D2 Cake With Sound
This was for my husband's birthday. He requested an R2D2 cake, and I added a sound chip as a surprise. I decided to try a two legged version, and used the tutorial by Stacked Cakes in Canberra as a guide. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and strawberry filling, covered in chocolate ganache under the fondant. The entire body and head is cake. The legs were built up using rice krispie treats.

3-D Gavel Cake For Law School Graduate
Customer wanted a small cake shaped like a gavel. It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do, and decided to do the block (I think that's what it's called) and the gavel, rather than a huge gavel. Everything's cake except for the gavel handle, which is fondant over a skewer.

Succulent/cactus Topsy Turvy Cake
This was for my daughter's 13th birthday - she came up with the design, and I had to learn how to make succulents! Cake was covered in fondant and painted gold, white sparkly polka dots and border. Succulents were all made from fondant, with some royal icing leaves on the two in the back. The pots were chocolate.

Sky Zone Trampoline Cake
This was a cake for the grand opening of the Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Glen Mills, PA. I did a replica of the park - there is a large trampoline area, two smaller ones, and a basketball and foam pit area. The board is 20" x 30", so it's pretty large. It's the first time I did a cake where I could not assemble it ahead of time, as the board would not fit in my fridge (and, it was a 75 minute trip to delivery!)

Sorting Hat From Harry Potter This Was Challenging For Me To Make There Are Three Marble 8 Rounds And Two Chocolate Chip 6 Rounds Separ
Sorting hat from Harry Potter. This was challenging for me to make. There are three marble 8" rounds and two chocolate chip 6" rounds, separated by a cake board. I trimmed it down into the cone shape, and finished off the top with a rice krispie bent point. I covered the whole thing in chocolate buttercream, then placed rolls of chocolate fondant to make the larger creases and shapes. I then covered the whole thing in 2 pieces of fondant, front and back, and formed it around the placed rolls of fondant, as well as making other indentations and folds. More fondant made the brim. I airbrushed the shadows to make them more prominent and darker. It was a big hit!
