Devil In Disguise
Triple layer devils food cake w/ a kahlua almond chocolate mousse filling and a vanilla buttercream frosting. Top and bottom borders are done using tip 401 and sides are done w/ basket weave. This was a cake I made for a picnic...no one ate it, and it ended up being thrown away :~(

Simply Sweet Round Cake
I got bored and decided to try a new cake recipe...which led to the cake being decorated :) This is a 6" double layer whipped cream cake and has crusting buttercream frosting. I used tip 16 for the rosettes, tip 22 for the yellow ruffle border, and tip 66 for the leaves. Cake recipe can be found on allrecipes - it's the one called "whipped cream cake II" - I was amazed by the texture!

Chocolate Velvet Torte
This wasn't for a wedding, but would be delicious as a grooms cake (or a spectacular dessert for fathers day!) The base is a chocolate graham cracker crust, w/ a decadent chocolate filling, topped w/ chocolate buttercream and Hershey's truffle kisses that have been split in half, and then placed around the outer edges. A dream come true for chocoholics!

M&m Birthday Cake
This was a last minute cake that my husband "voluntold" me to do ;) I had the instructions to "use my imagination" -well this cake was the result of my "imagination" - it's a 9" cake that has a FBCT, w/ reverse shell border, birthday "streamers" and m&m's - the cake though rushed turned out better than what I expected- Honest criticque welcomed!

Charlie Brown And The Great Pumpkin
11"x15" yellow butter cake, w/ crusting BC - "Peanuts" figures are made out of royal icing, and are attached to sugar cookies for added stability. "Great pumpkin" is made out of 2 mini -bundt cakes, I added mellowcreme pumpkins, and used tip 352 for the leaf border on the edge of the cake. Not too worried about the cracks -after all the frosting was meant to look like a pumpkin patch :) Honest critiquing preferred...thanks!

"fun In The Sun, Bryan Is One!"
This is a cake that I made for a boys 1st b-day. I enjoyed making this cake, but it was bittersweet -the little boy's father died in Iraq, prior to his birth - so it was hard for me to focus on cake...thus mistakes were made. I used a 6" & 8" cake, used reenie's crusting BC (found in CC recipe area). "Sand" is crushed graham crackers, the "starfish" are made of royal icing....I used plastic palm trees, surfboard, dolphin and b-day sign, then sprayed the BC frosting w/ the wilton blue colour spray.

Two Hearts, One Love
This is a double heart cake - I was planning on doing the WASC cake, but discovered I didn't have any white cake mix...so I used a Golden Vanilla cake mix instead. Although the cake is a single layer, I torted it, and used a raspberry mousse as the filling. I used Reenies crusting buttercream (from the cc recipe section...crusted great- even w/ the new crisco...just make sure to use 2lb of confectioners sugar, if you use the recipe)

Red & White Heart (Pic 1)
Made a cake b/c I was bored, gave the cake away. The red drizzles are wilton candy melts, and it actually has a raised heart in the middle. To accomplish this, I took a piece of wax paper, cut it into a heart shape, placed it in the middle, and then did the drizzles. I carefully lifted the wax paper off, then did a shell border -and then once the heart shape drizzles on the wax paper dried, I placed it on top of the smaller shell border.

Easter Basket Cake W/ Bunny
This is a dairy free chocolate cake w/ a chocolate peanut butter frosting, and the grass is the wilton class buttercream. The cake was pretty easy to make w/ a basket weave and then a star border. I used tip 233 for the grass and found it worked very quickly when I held it above the cake by about 1" and let it free fall (like sotas). I used peanutbutter m&m's for the eggs and a chocolate bunny to complete the look

Birthday Cake For U Of M Fan
This is a yellow cake w/ crusting BC frosting that I made for my dh's birthday. I used a shell border on the top and did some green and orange "streamer" type frosting on the edges -it kind of reminds me of stuff I've seen on store bought cakes and thought it was reminiscient of a party anyways. The "U" is a FBCT and though the cake design is very simple my husband enjoyed it.

Fondant Gumpaste Course Cake
Well obviously fondant/gumpaste is NOT my forte, but hey whatever. I worked ahead and attempted the fantasy flower, which ended up looking like a fantasy flop. I wanted the cake to be reminiscient of a mothers day cake, hence the scalloped edge on both the swag, and hankerchief piece. I also did little curly streamers. I wanted to toss this cake against the wall but figured it would make a mess. Ready to hear ANY advice on how I can master this fondant/gumpaste stuff b/c it's kicking my bum!

Let It Snow
This is an "attempted" snowman globe style cake. The snowman is done freehand, and I obviously suffered a blonde moment in the design process as everything ended up opposite of what the picture looked like -yikes- Anyways, I used the clear edible glitter for a look of falling snow. My snowflakes aren't the greatest, but then again I'm not perfect. I almost lost this cake -it *ALMOST* did a nose dive as I got out of our car...luckily the damage was minimal, and to the side (and after I got the picture!)

Dream In Pink
This is my 2nd ever baby shower cake - I had to "wing" this cake, as I wasn't given any theme/shower napkin at all. It is a strawberry sheet cake w/ crusting buttercream icing. I did the reverse shell (is it me, or do I use this technique in all my cakes?!) and I used the basketweave technique for the baby blanket. The dark pink in the blanket, is actually little candy heart sprinkles that I added. I made a "cloud pillow" for the sleeping baby. I had fun making this cake.

Turkey Thanksgiving Cake
This is a 10" round yellow cake w/ a butterscotch filling (it was reminiscient of caramel though) I did a basketweave around the cake and a reverse shell for the top and regular shell border on the bottom. Turkey is done in the FBCT method. This was for a military function, and the comical part about it, no one wanted to cut the cake...they thought it was too pretty (not like I'm some well known cake maker!) I had fun making this cake, but thinking of so many frosting colours to make about drove me nuts!

Air Force Promotion Cake
I made this cake for my husband's promotion. The cake is a yellow cake w/ crusting buttercream. I added vanilla, butter, and almond extracts to the buttercream. I tried a different technique for the frozen buttercream transfer, and loved how it had an "embroidered" look on the stripes. The stripes were freehanded. Getting the frosting "Air Force blue" about made me want to quit, luckily it worked. Constructive critiquing welcome

Candycorn Cake
This is a golden buttercake w/ almond buttercream frosting. The cake was made for a cakewalk at our church Harvest Party. Instead of colouring the frosting I left it white, and bought some orange and yellow coloured food spray and sprayed the cake. I did the spray outside, and being that it was windy, the colouring was blown onto the white part. I had fun making this cake though.

First Ever Doll Cake
This isn't my best (read post "Cake ashes" in the cake disaster forum). This was my first ever doll cake. I frosted it w/ the crusting BC recipe found on this site. I attempted to do some fancy "S's" but the frosting was too stiff. So then I tried making the "S's" into cornelli lace...fat chance...so then I tried to salvage it and try doing sotas on top...haha -this cake laughed at me all the way. I did like the hair though! I used dragees for the earrings and necklace and used edible glitter on doll

100_1110.jpg
This was my first ever baby shower cake, and first time to use edible images. I paid a local shop for the images and had NO idea they would be that big. I thought they would be the same size as the original scanned...oops! The theme of the shower was "under construction" thus the reason for the vivid colours. I took some mini oreo's and crunched them to make it resemble asphalt. The cake is a yellow butter cake, it has 2 edible images, and "traffic/construction" signs. Constructive critiquing is welcome.

Course Iii -Final Cake
This is my final cake for Wilton Course III - it's a white cake and I added butter and almond extracts. It has a pistachio mousse filling. I know it's not the greatest, and I could use some improvement, but I've had SO much fun in the classes, if you haven't taken them yet, go for it...you will learn alot! Looks like a christmas cake, but hey it's coming up.

Course Iii Fondant Cake
Well let's say I'm pleasantly surprised by the way the cake turned out! The cake originally started out as an 11"x15" sheet cake, a thin cake at that! I didn't realize a sheet cake required more than 1 cake mix! I had to torte, layer and carve this cake to get it to resemble a square! I added a little bit of almond extract to give the fondant some taste. I gave the cake away, and hopefully they will enjoy it! This was taken via cellphone camera -sorry if it's not clear!
