George is made from fondant. My favorite part is the little banana in his hand :) The bananas are "Runtz" and I painted the ends with a little color. The cakes are 6" and 9" banana cake (what else?) with caramel icing. Thanks for looking!

Oh Boy!

Daisies In Summer

Summer Wedding

The idea for this cake came from the bride - and I love it!! 6, 10, and 14 inch WASC cake with buttercream and MMF. The cakes are supported with polystyrene blocks and dowels and I put a dot of royal icing on the tops of the fruit just to keep them in place. Great summertime wedding cake :) TFL

Tropical Cake

This is an easy cake to make for a luau or tropical theme party. The cake is "Butterfly" with a cream cheese buttercream icing. (The cake recipe is here on CC, and is sooooooo good!) I cut each pirouette cookie to the right size and then filled in the layers with a mix of graham crackers and brown sugar. The hibiscus and frangipanis are gum paste, and I found the coconut at a local party store. Thanks for looking!!

Princess Cupcakes

Simple yellow cupcakes with buttercream frosting and sprinkles. I baked them in silver foil cups to really make the pink wraps pop. I found the wraps at Hobby Lobby. We served these at my daughter's 5th birthday party. It was a Princess Tea Party so these were perfect :)

Popcorn Bags

I made these for a bake sale at my kids' school. BIG thanks here to vickymacd for answering my questions!! I used yellow cuppies with buttercream icing. I couldn't find cupcake size nut cups like I wanted, so I printed the "bags" from my computer and then cut them to size and wrapped around the cuppies. Mini marshmallows pained with "Pooh Bear Gold" for the popcorn. TFL!!

Twilight Cake

Top and bottom tiers are red velvet with cr. cheese filling. Middle tier chocolate with raspberry filling. Covered in fondant. The flower and chess pieces are made from gumpaste - the apple was from a local craft store. The chess "board" was painted on fondant, the red ribbon is fondant, and the writing says "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb" Thanks for looking!!

Nana's Pink Flowers

Chocolate Birthday

I love chocolate and fresh fruit - sooo yummy!! I thought the chocolate glaze on the top of the cake had set, so I put the border on....LOL you can see where it started to droop, and I had to push it back up. Oh well, this was for my dad and he loves me anyway :) Dark chocolate cake with Mama's chocolate icing and chocolate glaze. Fresh fruit and chocolate clay roses. Thanks for looking!

Castle Cake

Star Wars Iii Cake

This was for my son's 9th birthday. He went old school on me, and decided on a Star Wars cake. I wanted to put action figures on the cake, but you can't really find them anymore...so I added pieces from a game that we have. I bought the Darth Vader mask at a local grocery store (it is a voice changer.) All chocolate cake, covered in white MMF and then air brushed with yellow, orange, and red. I did the fire by putting 3 bags of buttercream (yellow, orange, and red) into one bag with a leaf tip....

Cereal Straws Cake

This is a cake for my mom's birthday. (I took it to her at work so that is why I wrote her name instead of "mom.") She LOVES those coca krispies cereal straws so I put those around the cake instead of the pirouette cookies. They looked cute and I got 3 boxes for the price of 1 box of pirouettes. Blue Dragon

I made this for my son's 7th birthday. We made a green dragon for his brother in May, so he wanted a blue dragon and he wanted it to be guarding a jewel. This is what we came up with :) The body and legs are dark chocolate cake and the head and tail are rice krispies. The scales are made with MMF cut with a Wilton rose petal cutter. The face and claws are also MMF. We found the jewel and gold coins at a party store. Thanks for looking!

My Birthday Cake!!

Ok - we'll call this one a learning expierience! LOL I had never made a whimsey cake before, so I thought I would try one for my birthday. I made the MMF the day of decorating, instead of letting it rest overnight, so it was soooo soft and hard to work with - and how the heck to do go from a big top to the small bottom without getting pleats in the MMF??? Anyway, learned a lot with this one - maybe I will try again someday. Yellow cake, MMF and buttercream decorations.

Classic Wedding Cake

This was my biggest cake yet!! Thebride gave me a picture she had found online and said "This is the cake!!" If it is your design, thanks for the inspiration - sorry I don't know your name to give kudos! All 4 tiers are WASC cake with strawberry custard filling. Covered in fondant with the borders and scroll work in buttercream. (The scrollwork is my own design...) I did the scrolls freehand because I couldn't make the stamps work like I wanted.

Dots And Daisies

This was my first "cake disaster" The top layer of the bottom cake shifted about 1/2 inch forward in transport. So some of the dots around the ribbon fell off and I could not gat them back on, and the MMF on the sides had rippled a little. High stress for me, but the bride didn't even notice until I told her, and then she said it still looked great. (Thank goodness she was a sweetheart and not bridezilla....) WASC, chocolate, and brownies with buttercream. Covered in MMF and the dots are MMF too.

Pot Of Soup

These cakes were for a neighbor who was turning 88. He makes the BEST homemade soup (hence the pot of soup on the cake...) The bottom cake is chocolate cake with chocolate icing. The spoon and recipe card are MMF. On the top is yellow cake with buttercream frosting. The pot is also yellow cake, hollowed out and covered in MMF. The veggies and letters are MMF and the "broth" is orange piping gel.

Green Dragon

I made this for my son's 8th birthday. (It took EIGHT HOURS to complete!!) Big thanks to Leanne (getfrosted) for answering all my questions and anyone who posted in the forum I wrote. Kudos go out to my DH...His name is Mel and he made the head (all of it - even the MMF!) and shaped the tail for me and then helped me get all the scales on. Dark chocolate cake with rice krispies for the head, neck, and tail. MMF decorations.
