My first time with fondant figures. I learned a lot, and was somewhat pleased with the overall results. Fortunately, my son loved it. Thanks to many on CC for answering questions and for inspiration.
Based on end of Course II cake. I just made this for fun and practice.
I didn't like my color flow birds and didn't use them. I also forgot about leaving room for a border on the cake board. OOPS. Anyway, I like doing basketweave and knowing how to make Royal icing flowers.
My mother LOVES buttercream, so since this one was covered in buttercream everything, I took it to her. I think I have improved on nearly all aspects since then-- thank goodness.
My first attempt at decorating with cream cheese frosting. It didn't work as well as I had hoped, but putting in the freezer for a few minutes every 20-30 minutes helped. This was for my BIL's birthday.
I did this for fun, but it ended up being used for a retirement party at school. My first attempt at fondant leaves-- too thick, and I used water to thin the food coloring for painting. Still everyone seemed to like it.
