Curious George Yellow Hat
The Yellow Hat for my nephew's Curious George party. Wondermold pan on top of 2-layer 9-inch rounds. Brim of the hat is just a cake board covered in fondant. So much fun to do and pretty easy too! Inspired by msauers design. Kids at the party didn't believe it was a cake and they "poked" their fingers through the fondant. Luckily I had already taken my picture!

Blue Birthday Cake
Another "practice" cake. This time for my brother's birthday. Chcoloate cake and filling covered with Fondx. The blue is also dusted with the new Wilton pearl dust. First time using wires in the cake. I think I could have used more, but wasn't sure how they were going to stay put.

Mother's Day Make Up Bag
I've wanted to do make up bag for a long time now & Mother's Day was the perfect opportunity! I saw two beautiful bags on CC by Karen and JoanneK. Not as hard as I thought it would be, but I still need to practice with fondant! Oval vanilla cake (using the Wilton Course 2 pans) with cerry filling. Iced in almond buttercream and covered with Fondx. Have to say I really like Fondx a lot - so much easier than MMF!

4Th Birthday Party Decorating Cakes
My daughter had a "princess" party for her 4th birthday. For the kids craft, I had them decorate cakes made with the mini wondermold pan. We had princesses for the girls and mountains for the boys (although some boys wanted to do princesses too!). These were done by some of the party guests...ages 2-5. The kids had so much fun decorating...but we had to keep an eye out for little ones licking the knives!!

3D Firetruck
Firetruck cake for a boy's 3rd birthday party. Got this pattern from the CakeWizard. Pretty easy to follow and this was my first time working with royal and color flow since my Course 2 almost 3 years ago. Not as hard as I thought it would be! Cake is chocolate with a chocolate mousse filling, buttercream icing.

Baby Shower Baby Cake
My first paid cake!!! Well, I hadn't intended to get paid for it. This was for a baby shower for a friend of a friend. I volunteered to do it because I need practice, but once they picked up the cake, they insisted on paying me for it. I am not happy with how bumpy the MMF turned out. I am not having luck with MMF and am thinking about buying pre-made instead. The "head" is chocolate cake with Rich's Chocolate Bettercreame filling. The body is white cake with lemon filling.

Poker Cake
I did this as a quick thing for my husband's poker night. Yellow butter cake with whipped Pastry Pride & cheesecake pudding filling. Iced in buttercream and gumpaste cards & chips. I really wanted to practice getting my buttercream smooth, hence the simple design. But, the guys loved it and polished off by the end of the evening.

Baby Shower
Did this for a friend's baby shower. It's from the Wilton 2006 yearbook, but instead of the baby on top, I made gumpaste booties. This was my frist time using gumpaste and I really liked it! Top layer is chocolate with chocolate ganache filling. Bottom layer is the white almond sour cream cake from this site with raspberry filiing. Everying is covered in MMF. Everybody at the shower raved over the white almond sour cream cake! It is definitely a great recipe to use!
