Gingerbread Replica Of The Abigail Adams Birthplace In Weymouth, Ma
I did this for my town's annual Gingerbread contest, in conjuction with a historical restoration of the Abigail Adams Birthplace, circa 1685, located in Weymouth, MA. Won 1st place. Probably not very impressive to those who don't know the real house, but I worked hard to get it to look exactly like the real thing. 100% edible. House is gingerbread with Royal Icing siding (piped with a petal tip). Roof is gum paste shingles hand-painted to look weathered (you can't tell in this pic). Windows are leaf gelatin. Walkway is Trident gum "bricks."

Paint Splatter Cake
For a double birthday for my two and four-year-old kids. The party theme was getting messy, and one of the party activities was painting. I let the kids paint on a "canvas" of rolled fondant with edible "paint" made from thinned icing, then attached it to the cake and added a palette I made out of gum paste and royal icing. The kids loved that they got to paint and put their own hand prints on their cake.
