I Havent Done A Big Cake In About 7 Months And Most Of You Know Im Done With Weddings But When My Neighbor Of 14 Years Called For Her Da
I haven't done a big cake in about 7 months, and most of you know I'm done with weddings, but when my neighbor of 14 years called for her daughter, who I've known since she was 6, I decided to do one more. Their family has weathered long list of trials this year, having lost the bride's father (our neighbor's husband) on July 4 this year, 3 weeks before the bride's first baby was born. She was married right after that, and this is her reception cake. How could I say no? I love how it turned out. The sugar sunflowers I made are based on the ones outside their kitchen window, which are the last thing they planted together as a familly this spring. *sniff* Hard day--but wishing them many happier days!

Urban Chic
a display for a bridal event this weekend, where our theme was modern. The bottom tier matched the table clothes exactly; it looked amazing. You can see the vignette on our facebook page. love this one! Airbrushed top tiers, hand painted moonstone luster on bottom. Did the piping by imprinting with a diamond mat and then piping with a small rose tip, maybe 101? GP red flowers and accents

Our Cake Featured On Hotel Hell
Finally can tell you all--I was thrilled to be a part of an episode filmed here in CDA for Hotel Hell with Gordon Ramsey in February. Here's the cake we used for the wedding we surprised the venue with at the end of the week. The show aired last night, and I was thrilled with how it turned out! You can see more about it on our website and all over FB today :D

Eyelet Impression
This was based on a Martha Stewart weddings mag pic. I made the peonies and orchid-looking flowers, the others I ordered. The eyelet 'look' was SUPER timeconsuming and each hole required six steps. Just the piping around the holes as the last step, took 2 hours. So I don't recommend this unless you have LOTS of time. Which I didn't, but the bride loved it, so I'm thrilled and it was worth it. A nice way to end a really long week! If you were following my post this week, you know what I mean.

Sharps Rifle Replica In Cake
accidentally deleted this! It's all cake and GP, marbled metal look done by black and white gp oversprayed with bronze airbrush, wood stock done with brown and fleshtone combined airbrushing, board is 1 x 12 plank covered in red velvet. Barrel made with gp around a dowel, and I broke it sliding it off, but we fixed it OK. SUPER fun to do.
