Blossoms Princess
Figure is made from tylose and fondant mix. Blossoms are cut from colored fondant. Design is inspired by some very pretty blossom tissue paper. The blossom burst is inserted into the cake through a drinking straw. Learned a lot making this cake. Insert the blossoms at the site, so that every pothole you hit doesn't distort the wires, ugh! And pipe the border on the stand in a location that you can move around to pipe properly, since the stand plate cannot turn. Always a learning curve with new toys. LOL. Thank you to Bluehue for her encouragement and tips on the stand! :))

Pink Peony & Buds
Pink peonies made with two different sized catalyea orchid cutters. I've been begging to learn how to do these flowers. My wonderful instructor finally agreed and so this is the result. Very delicate flower to make and assemble! Definitely do assemble on a foam pad to keep breakage to a minimum. I wanted the arrangement to look as if I cut it from a bush. Thanks for looking! :)

Steamed Vanilla & Chocolate Cake
I used the wonderful recipe in the CC recipe section under Asian cakes. This cake is steamed and rises beautifully. I made this cake for a ladies night where we learned how to make sushi. I experimented with half of the batter this time and added special dark chocolate powder and it turned out perfect. Thanks for looking.

Bride
The first and last time I will ever attempt this. It is much more difficult than I imagined for myself as well as my classmates. The head, torso, and arms are made from a mold using Mexican paste, the dress is gumpaste/fondant mix, hair and decorations are royal icing, flowers are gumpaste and wire. It was so difficult to get the paste from the mold without distorting the facial features. We wound up laughing with tears. Definitely a learning experience for me. She measures 5 1/2 inches tall and her head is less than an inch wide. It was so difficult painting the face with a 00 brush. Thanks for looking.

Garden Mouse
My project for my sugarpaste class. We had to copy the instructor's display of a garden mouse. To be cheeky, I added the wedge of cheese and gave the mouse a big belly. We practiced working with marzipan (mouse & pot) and using a spray gun to color the board and gumpaste leaves. It was fun working with marzipan and learning the texture and how to color marzipan. Thanks for looking.

Boy & Girl Hawaiian Cakes
My first fondant figures. I used books by Ann Pickard, she is a UK sugar artist, and wonderful demonstrator. The girl cake is BC with chocolate seashells with plumeria and BC leaves. The open spaces on the cakes are for the candles. The palmtrees are made with a large bamboo skewer shaped in marzipan, then wrapped with brown gumpaste. The surfboard is done in gumpaste with fondant accents and the turtle and flip flops are fondant. Huge thanks to the ladies in the CC galleries for their inspiration!

Chocolate Cupcakes With Peanut Butter Buttercream
Triple Chocolate Cupcake with peanut butter buttercream icing. I have always wanted to experiment with chocolate and peanut butter. OMG, they are so good! You dip the wrench into the peanut butter and it's almost like eating a peanut butter cup. Oh and I forgot to mention the cupcake is also filled with the buttercream, piped in with a specialty cupcake filling tip. I made 2 dozen of these for our Maintenance Thanksgiving Feast. I think the crew chiefs will appreciate the wrenches!

Green Cymbidium Orchid Arrangement
3rd Course in Sugarpaste Flowers, this time it is cymbidium orchids. We were only supposed to make 3, but I wanted an arrangement for myself. From the beginning the green ones caught my eye. I will add some moss to the base when I can find some. :) I used the FMM cymbidium cutter set and dusted with lime green and burgundy. Thanks for looking.

Wasc Challenge Cupcakes
I challenged the ladies in the CC forum to make me a believer in WASC after a seriously failed attempt at a different recipe, the ladies graciously rose to the challenge and gave up recipes to convert me into a WASC believer. I made 82 cupcakes from the Rebecca Sutterby -WASC recipe! I sampled them & they are moist. tender, and fluffy, exactly like a regular box mix. I was very impressed with the consistency, it was not bread-like at all. Thank you ladies for helping me overcome my fear of another WASC disaster. I am a believer! LOL. -The cupcakes are lemon altered WASC with House Buttercream from the Whimsical Bakehouse book. It yielded plenty of icing for all 82 cupcakes with some leftover. They are topped with daisies and blossoms cut-out from yellow fondant. Thanks for looking.

80Th Birthday Cake
Cake for my British neighbor who is 80 today. He is a very active man, he bakes pies for the church and sings in the choir and takes care of his ill wife of 57 years with such devotion. He is so sharp and I love listening to him talk about his life experiences. Vanilla cake with jam, BC icing and MMF lemon flavored fondant. Inspiration for the roses came from his own garden of which the yellow were the first to bloom. He was so thrilled with his cake, he brought it out and set it out in the living room where all of the guests could see it. First time to attempt marbelizing and the use of the lace texture cutters. Thanks for looking.

Pink Tiger Lily
First tiger lily, completed in sugarpaste course in UK. Made using gumpaste/sugarpaste, wires, petal impression, and hand created leaves. Dusting really brings the flowers to life. Fun class, Thanks for looking. *Edited to say the flower on the right is real. The one on the left is the one I made. :)

Nec Birmingham Flower Cake
This cake was on competiton display. If anyone knows the name of the creator, please let me know and I will be glad to give them credit. I love the cake because it is a creative use of flowers and really stood out amongst all of the cakes even though it was not on a large scale or dramatic.

Tea Cup Cake
6 inch round, torted & coated in BC and covered in marshmallow fondant. The tea cup was baked in an oven proof bowl and then inverted and covered the same way as the 6 inch. The roses on the cup are painted in dusts using a stencil. The pearls are made from my First Impressions pearl mold. Definitely freeze them as recommended, they hold their shape better as I found out. Thanks for looking.
