Rabbit Out Of The Hat
My daughter is into magic so this was her birthday "cake." It's actually all rice krispie treats. Kids never eat the cake, just the icing so I thought rice krispie treats would go over better and be easier to work with. Thanks to the other magic hat pictures for inspiration! The rim of the hat is a fondant covered cake board. The ears of the rabbit are gumpaste and the wand is a gumpaste/fondant blend. The rabbit is molded from the bear pan and covered in candy melts with fondant features. black mmf

Hostess Cupcake
I've been wanting to try a ding dong cake ever since I saw one. Technically this is a hostess cupcake with the swirly things on top. It was my first time using ganache and I had a lot of air bubbles so I guess I'll just HAVE to make another. Chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling, not traditional ding dong filling, but it sounded too good to pass up.

Bear On A Block
I made this for a friend who just had her baby. I've been wanting to to the mini-bear I bought. It's my first attempt at a block and it wasn't quite square. I was going to cover it with fondant, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it, but then my icing wasn't very smooth LOL. It turned out cute and my friend liked it, so that's all that matters. It's two layers torted into 4 layers. Cake is carmel, banana, and the bear is red velvet. Cream cheese icing for filling.

Heart With Roses
This cake gave me such a headache, had huge problems making roses and had to make another batch of icing. It turned out great in the end, although they almost got drop flowers I was so frustrated LOL. Still have to work on my writing. I redid the 4 about six times and it still didn't look how I wanted, but I figured better leave it alone. Butter cake torted into three layers with strawberry preserves and cream cheese icing. Roses are all crisco icing after my failed attempts.

School Bus
My sons's second birthday cake. He was fascinated with buses after seeing his sisters get on one for school. And again it's not my best work because I don't give myself enough time when it comes to working on my kid's cakes. It was fun though and my son loved it. The red parts are gummy candies and the wheels are oreos.

Daisy To Brownie Bridging Ceremony
I made this for my daughter's bridging ceremony. They were two of the first few cakes I've ever done after taking the first Wilton class. I wish I'd taken course two by then and known how to make a daisy! The bridge is chocolate covered pretzels and the icing is all cream cheese icing.

Cha Cha Girl
My 7 year old made this for her birthday. I did the doll's top and crumb coated the cake. She also used a couple of my leftover royal icing flowers. The rest of the icing and decorations were done by my daughter. She got her inspiration from Mommyof2angels picture. My daughter called them cha cha girls. I have trouble "letting go" when my kids do cakes so I was very proud of my daughter and how it turned out.

My First Paid Cake
This was the first cake I did after wilton course1 and the first one I got paid for. It was my first time using cream cheese icing and it was too soft, but ended up okay. I just had to try cornelli lace after seeing it in a book. I was pretty happy with how it turned out and got rave reviews.
