Tyler & Erica's Wedding Cake
strawberry cake with fondant dusted with sparkle luster dust and real roses--I did this cake for my pastor and his now-wife's wedding. The weather was not accommodating that week so this cake was a nightmare to make. It is an entirely different design than I had originally planned to do--except the hand-made fondant pearls--I did get to use them on the cake. They were happy with it, so it all turned out ok in the end--not my best work, though.

Jaime's Bridal Shower--Bridal Shoe Cake
10" round covered with buttercream and fondant, lightly dusted with pearl dust. The shoe was made using the pattern linked to the tutorial on this website--I didn't even have to resize the pattern. The fondant on the toe of the shoe and the cake plate were textured with Rosa's roller (the one from Earlene's website). This is not my best work because the fondant gave me fits today, but Jaime and the girls at church loved it, so that makes me feel alright about the cake.

Brianna's 9Th Birthday
Doll cake iced with cream cheese buttercream made with the new no trans-fat Crisco. The new Crisco made the icing "slippery". It wanted to slide right off the cake! It was also hard to get the icing stiff enough for the piping to hold its shape in the icing. But, the cake was made for a sweet girl at my church and she loved it, so that is good.

Dana's Wedding Cake
6-8-10 tiers in royal blue buttercream with silver accents. The silver circles were originally going to be fondant, but due to the weather, they are white chocolate chips painted with silver luster dust. It rained all day the day I made this so I couldn't even get the buttercream to crust properly to smooth it. What a mess to make! I almost didn't do this cake because the bride waited until the last minute to tell me she needed one. But I was afraid if I didn't help her, she wouldn't have a cake at all.

Stephanie's Cake--Valentine's 2007
This cake was a surprise for the wife of the music leader at my church. She likes pink daisies, her favorite scripture is Psalm 139:14, and she's a "girly girl" so this is what I came up with. It's a 6" round carrot cake with orange cream cheese buttercream and chocolate MMF pearls dusted with desert plum luster dust. The ruffle around the cake was piped using self-ruffling tip #416---it was my first time using this tip and I loved it! It took all of one minute or less(literally) to pipe the border!

Flowers And Pearls
Everything is MMF. My 2 year old daughter "helped" me with this cake while I was covering it with fondant and adding the decorations. So, it ended up being much fancier than I had first planned because I had to keep covering up the areas she "helped" with...hahaha...anyway, I think it turned out rather pretty and my daughter had a good time, too.

Academy Christmas Party Cake Jan. 2007
Peppermint Cake with Cream Cheese Buttercream and covered with Peppermint MMF and royal icing piping, dusted with superpearl. The Tree is MMF with royal accents as well. The sides of the cake say Peace, Joy, Hope, and Love. I like the overall concept of this cake, but my execution of the idea was not the best. I had decorated my twins' birthday cakes (the choo choo train and mermaid cakes) and had their party the day before, so I was tired!

Loralai's 2Nd Birthday--Mermaid Cake
My daughter loves the Little Mermaid, so I made a mermaid cake for her second birthday. The top half of the mermaid is a real doll that I stuck in the cake--everything else is cream cheese buttercream. I used half of the ball pan and placed it onto the 9" petal pan (single layer). My daughter started getting excited about her birthday when I let her pick out the doll for her cake. She fell asleep before I finished decorating her cake last night, but she woke up in the middle of the night to see it.

Ethan's 2Nd Birthday--Choo Choo Train Cake
My son loves trains so for his second birthday I made him this choo choo train cake. I used the Wilton train pan and some plastic figures for the animals and conductor--all cream cheese buttercream with a few M&Ms on the wheels and light. From the moment this pan entered our house, my son was very excited. He'd point to the pan and say "choo choo". I decorated the cake last night and he wouldn't go to sleep until it was finished. The only other time he's acted like that was on Christmas Eve!

Mr. Murphree's Musical Birthday Cake
10" round. Chocolate hazelnut birthday cake with chocolate cream cheese buttercream frosting. Decorations were made from white chocolate using candy molds. Writing was piped using white chocolate (I discovered piping chocolate lettering is very different from piping icing--what a booger!) Anyway, this cake was for my sister-in-law's music professor at college. All of the students in his studio got together and threw him a surprise birthday party because he's so nice and cares a lot about them.

Stacia's Wedding Cake
6",8",10",12" cake iced in ivory cream cheese buttercream with swiss dots, gumpaste roses(Jem 110mm cutter), hydrangeas(Scott Clark Wooley cutters), and butterflies (cookie cutters with wheat spaghetti for antennas), with hand-rolled fondant pearls. I dusted the gumpaste work with pearl dust, sparkle dust, and luster dusts. It was a lot of work, but I just love the way it turned out!

Topsy Turvy Fourth Of July Cake
Here's my first Fourth of July cake (7"-10"). It's cream cheese buttercream with fondant stars, stripes, ruffles, and flag. The flag is dusted with super gold luster dust. I put red and blue crumbs and luster dust on the white icing behind the flag to give the appearance of a fireworks celebration.

How To Make A Triple Coupler
I used a Hiland yogurt container (flat bottom with a diameter of 2 3/8")and cut it down some. I then cut three holes in a triangular shape in the bottom of the container, each hole between 5/8" and 6/8". I inserted three standard sized couplers and three tips and put it all in an 18" piping bag.

Nate's Tombstone Birthday Cake
More people r.s.v.p.-ed to the party the day before and I already had the other cake finished, so I made an extra cake the day of the party. My husband wanted me to make a tombstone with R.I.P. on it really badly--here's what I came up with. R.I.P. Here lies the youth of Nate "the great".

Nate's "big 30" Birthday Cake
This is the birthday cake I did for one of my husband's best friends. The tiers are 6",7", and 8". I iced the cake with chocolate crusting cream cheese buttercream and added white fondant circles and chocolate fondant balls dusted with super gold luster dust. I also used the fondant balls on the topper--just wired them and added some royal icing for exta glue between the wires and the balls.

Rainbow Cake
This was a quick farewell cake for a lady at my husband's work who loves rainbows. I used chocolate hazelnut buttercream and just swirled it around, threw some cake sparkles on it and added a real ribbon. I lined the ribbon with waxed paper so the ribbon wouldn't soak up the icing and that seamed to work well.

Carla And Paul's Tuxedo Groom's Cake
This was supposed to be a fondant tuxedo cake, but the fondant wouldn't cooperate for me, so it became a cream cheese buttercream tuxedo cake at the last minute. This wasn't my best work because I had about an hour to redo the whole cake and try to repair the damage the fondant did to the cake. I ended up having to redo the cake three times. Luckily, I knew the groom didn't care what the cake looked like as long as it was chocolate and had a tux on it. So...here's my first groom's cake..

Carla And Paul's Brush Embroidery Wedding Cake With Iris Topper
This was my first time to do a wedding cake. I did it as a favor to help out a lady at my husband's work. It turned out pretty, but there were some crumbs in the icing that I didn't notice until it was too late. I don't think they stood out to anyone else, though. I made the topper out of gumpaste and put super pearl and super gold dusts on it. All I see are the flaws when I look at it, but the ladies at the reception site thought it was gorgeous, so that made me feel better.

Carla And Paul's Classy Cowboy Rehearsal Dinner Cake--Top View
This is my attempt at a classy cowboy cake. It's cream cheese buttercream icing with a royal icing run-in silhouette and white mint chocolate cowboy hats, cowboy boots, and bead border. It was my first time working with chocolate. It was also my first rehearsal dinner cake. The icing cracked when I set it on my turntable to decorate it--never had that happen before--so I took it off and had to decorate it on a TV tray, instead. The bride absolutely loved it, so I'm happy!

Kim's Cake
I did this cake for my husband's district manager, Kim. She always seems to miss cake day at my husband's store, so I made her a cake of her own. It's a mini-tiered cake (2", 3", 4", 5") with an Indonesian type design that I saw on a cake someone else on this website made a few weeks ago. It was my first time to do a lot of decoration on the side of a cake.

Blue Lilac Cake For Isaiah's Birthday
This is a birthday cake for a college student I know. He left the design to me, so I did a basketweave with a French plume border variation for the bottom border and #225 drop flowers for the top border. I made the French Blue Lilacs by piping the basic shape with a #21 and covering it with #133 drop flowers (used a mixture of cornflower blue and royal blue icing). The message was simply embossed with presses. Cake sparkles topped it off. Thank you to the kind person who shared how to make lilacs.
