I love making birthday cakes for my son. This year for this 8th birthday, he requested a pool table cake. I asked if he wanted a 'funny' cake. He replied by saying he wanted a 'blue' colour pool table top instead of the traditional green. Why? So that the 'pool' table would look like a swimming pool with a shark inside (hence the fin). LOL. Every edible part of this cake was made of Bakel fondant and the cake was a chocolate mud cake. I covered the cake board with red and white coloured fondant squares. The base of the pool table, the cake board and cutting the cue stick to length were my son's project (with daddy's help).
I made this cake for my son's 7th birthday recently (using fondant). The crater has a drinking glass in it. Inside the glass, i put half a glass of dry ice and pour hot water into it to create the eruption effect. You can see the eruption here on my video: The cake was fun to make. My son made the dinosaur eggs. He LOVED his volcano cake!

These were for our goddaughter's 3rd birthday. She's a big fan of Dorothy the dinosaur (the Wiggles). She loved the cupcakes. Dorothy didn't get eater. She now lives in a cute little cardboard box at her house.
I had to do these cupcakes quickly so I just bought a packet of Fredo cupcake mix and followed the instructions. Easy!
Ted fell into the moon crater (from cbc Canada TV series Lunar Jim lunarjim.com).I made this sugarcraft for my son's 5th birthday this week (8+ hours work) In one of the Lunar Jim episodes, Ted the robot fell into a crater. So, I used this as the main theme of this sugar craft. Ted lies in the moon crater, Jim (in blue space suit) and Ripple (the girl in red) laughed. Eco (in green) and Rover (the robot dog) tried pulling him out of the crater. The space helmets were actually the lids from kids
I made this for my child's 3rd birthday. The cake is in the shape of a book. All the following Wiggles' characters came alive and jump out of the book. Greg (yellow) , Murray (red), Anthony (blue) and Captain Feathersword are having a picnic eating their apples. Jeff (purple) wiggle is sleeping under the turned page (top right hand corner). Henry the Octopus is dancing. Dorothy the dinasour (right front) is admiring her roses & Wages the dog (left front) is day dreaming. My child loved this cake !
Catch the evil penguin Gromit (Wallace & Gromit 'The Wrong Trousers' episode) This was my 4th cake (my 2nd 3D cake - I made it for my son's 4th birthday). I covered the cake with fondant on a very humid night and the fondant was melting on me! Big mistake!! Think I should have added 'vegetable gum' to make the fondant a little harder. I did intend to make the train similar to the one in the 'Wrong trouser's episode, but it didn't quite turn out that way. Anyway, after many patching work, I managed to rescue it & finished the cake in 13 long hours! Glad my son loved the cake!
