I made a pirate ship for my nephew´s 4th birthday. I´m quite happy with the way it turned out! Thanks for all the inspiration and good ideas!
No fail sugar cookies and Toba Garrett's icing. This icing stays really shiny; I like it a lot! There's also chocolate ones made with Devil's food cake mix. Very easy!
Carrot cake with cream cheese icing. I tried to make a japanese theme. We're not from Japan, but I always like the cherry-blossoms.
Too much blob on my butterflies, yuk! Practice, practice, practice......
Sponge with marmalade covered with ganache. Unfortunately the ganache didn't get hard (too much cream??) so it left us with very sticky fingers!!
Not as smooth as I wanted to, but they were good! Next time I'll try to cover the cake with apricot glaze. In the Wilton Yearbook it says it will make them smooth.
My first real cake. I thought it would be easy but it's not very smooth and the kitchen was an incredible mess!! I need to get organised and have more patience. Not very well known in Holland, I think people will be happy tomorrow at the shower.
I really need to practice a lot more!!
That was a great idea to NOT show the bumpy icing...
Oh my, I'm almost ashamed to post them...they didn't turn out very beautiful (they're good though). I don't have the right tools so I worked with my fingers and brushes... I guess it shows. Made with love, though!
Chocolate cake with raspberry preserve covered in pink fondant and black flowers.
