Wish Upon A Star
I made this for my first-time doing a public display! It was for this year's 33rd Annual ICES Convention and Show in Orlando, and is entitled "Wish Upon a Star." The little girl is hand sculpted out of fondant and is blowing a star out of her hand. The stars on top are handmade from fondant and painted with gold and yellow luster dust. I strung them on wires. The grass is royal icing, tiny star flowers are royal as well...the clouds are handmade from fondant and shadowed with petal dust.

Boy's 16Th Birthday Cake
I made this cake for a friend's son's 16th birthday. Apparently he likes to rap and his given rapping name is "J2". Hence, the microphone (Rice Krispie Treats) and the wire that wraps around to spell J2. I made square cakes, frosted in buttercream then I made the speaker with fondant. The skulls are fondant that I hand cut with an x-acto blade. The blue is piped buttercream. I put about 4 dragees in there for accents. the "screws" on the name plate were made by hand then painted in silver luster dust.

Yoda
I made this cake for the 2008 wrap party of the Walt Disney World Star Wars Weekends cast members. (It was a gift...my fiance was on the team!) His head, ears, hands and feet are Cocoa Krispie Treats, the body is sculpted cake. All covered with buttercream and then I applied fondant. The eyes were hand painted with gel colors.

Graveyard Cake
I made this cake at the last minute really...I just wanted something cute to bring into work. It's square pumpkin cakes with pumpkin mousse filling and cream cheese buttercream frosting. The gravestones are your typical, delicious Milano cookies! (Yum!) The grass was painted on white fondant with gel coloring, the piped designs were done with cream cheese buttercream.

Thanksgiving Cake
The cake is a pumpkin cake recipe with a pumpkin mousse filling and cream cheese buttercream frosting. I covered it in fondant. The cornucopia is all handmade. I painted the grapes on the cake with the Wilton gel colors to give them a glossy look. The leaves are cut out of fondant with small cookie cutters. The ropes are slightly dusted in gold luster dust. The swirls are hand piped in cream cheese buttercream.

Darth Vader
This is a sculpted Star Wars themed, Darth Vader cake. It was white cake with a buttercream filling. I sculpted it after I stacked the cake, then inserted dowels, then frosted in buttercream. It's covered in fondant and "glazed" with water to give it a shiny look. (I used black store bought Satin Ice for the fondant and white painted with silver lusted dust for the "metal" parts.)

Stitch Cake
Here's my first whimsical cake! It was for my friend's daughter's first birthday party. Her name is "Rylie" so that's why the "R" is on there. Fondant and buttercream, Stitch is in fondant. Inside is white cake on bottom tier, chocolate on top with chocolate mousse chocolate chip filling.

Sand Pail
I wanted to make a sand pail using the "Baby in a Flower Pot" instructions found on CC. The pail is 7 layers of yellow cake w/chocolate hazelnut BC filling. Covered in fondant. It's resting on a devil's food sheet cake covered in BC and "sand" is crushed graham crackers. Shells are molded chocolate. Shovel is plastic since my gumpaste one didn't turn out right. But hey, it's my fifth cake! There are definitely imperfections but I'm still proud of it.

Birthday Cake
I actually made this cake for my birthday! The bottom tier is 5 layers of Strawberry Cake from scratch with vanilla mousse filling and the top tier is 2 layers of Darn Good Chocolate Cake with vanilla mousse filling. (All recipes for my cake were found on this website! ) It's covered in ivory buttercream frosting and gooey chocolate frosting is drizzled on the bottom tier. The bow is fondant.

My First Cake!
This is a photo of my first cake that I completed yesterday! I am so proud of it - I was a bit ambitious with a three tier cake to start out with, but the 4 days of work provided a great learning experience and "sweet" success in the end. I cannot wait to do more! It's bright and cheery so I call it "NEON". Decorated with fondant (everything but the orange) and buttercream (orange).
