This is my Wilton 2006 contest entry - whew - it's finally done. I learned a TON doing this cake, and although it fell short in some areas of my expectations, overall I'm happy with the results. In my opinion, it was worth doing for the experience and for the adorable dragon that I made!
Mother sent me a photo of the paper goods she ordered for the party - I made RI run in decorations to go on cake. Cake looked great until I got it to the destination - I forgot to affix it to the cake board and it slid all over the back of the car :( Only the bottom piping got messed up though.

This is the one I described in 'cake disasters' - the RI run in broke after I placed it on the cake. I replaced it with a fbct flat on top of the cake - whew!
Another fbct cake using clipart. The more of these I do, the better and easier they get!! I got the recipe and instructions under "articles" tab.
My first FBCT cake! The transfer cracked when I put it on the cake, but with some support from my DH and a dry paintbrush, I was able to mend the break! I got the image from clipart online and made a mirror image in MS Photodraw.
First cake I covered in MMF - a new favorite medium! I couldn't have done it without the help I got here!
I nicknamed this cake "the pink nightmare". It didn't turn out at all like what I had pictured, but it taught me to be resourceful and change directions when need be (it wasn't for a client - just a very understanding friend!)
I made this cake at the request of my husband who is a UK alum and a big sports fan. I tried to shape 3 6" cakes into the 'funnel' shape of a basketball net. The UK Wildcat and backboard are royal icing run ins. The cake is covered with rolled buttercream fondant.
I used modeling chocolate tinted pink for the decorations. Inside torted layers are filled with meringue buttercream, which prevents the whole thing from getting toooo sweet.

Practice cake to display my gumpaste flowers. Also practiced royal piping and covering/coloring with fondant.
I wanted to practice my buttercream piping and wanted to see if I could create the signature "Tiffany & Co" blue. I only used Wilton teal paste color and I think it's pretty dead on. The flowers on top are some royal icing roses I had laying around.
A design from one of Colette Peters' books - I wanted to practice my royal icing piping. I still have a ways to go as far as getting the consistency right for piping 'drops' down the sides!
Guitar cake - single layer of 2 9x13's covered with chocolate buttercream which was covered with white modeling chocolate and then painted with a mixture of paste color and lemon extract. I piped the strings using a #1 tip and royal icing.
