100% inspired by the awesome cakes on this site!
This is my first cupcake cake (and second FBCT). I guess I should have planned the background color of my FBCT better, but oh well! Anyone have any tips on how to get the FBCT smoother (no lines)? I can't seem to get it right.
MMF. I put too much Crisco in the red and smudged the black everywhere. But all in all, my son loved it!
I used fondant and buttercream icing. This was a quick and easy cake!
This was my very first frozen buttercream transfer. I made the mistake of shaping the cake but forgetting that the image gets flipped! Would the image be smoother if I thinned the icing more?
This is my first shot at fondant. It was easier to use than I thought. The picture I got from one of my son's sweatshirts.
I printed this picture off of the internet and traced it on the cake.
okay, I cheated. The characters are figurines, but the rest is all mine! The pinapple top, seaweed, corral, and flowery shapes are royal icing. The rest is buttercream, and a sprinkle of brown sugar for the sand.
Funny how the hardest part of this cake was using that decorator triangle for the water!
This was made from a bundt cake cut in half. The wings, teeth, and eyes are made from gum paste.
