Nightmare Before Christmas
So, I like to think I'm cool, hip, with it. But then my 20 yr old niece..or maybe she was 19 at the time, I can't remember. Anyway, she said, "Aunt Aubrey? I want Lock, Shock and Barrel on my birthday cake." Umm....who?? Well now I know! The three little kids in Nightmare Before Christmas. How did I not know that? And how did I not know that you could paint so much detail with chocolate?!?! And all in four colors! (OK, yes, I'm sorta tooting my own horn. But come on, I used toothpicks to paint some of this!!) Insert big cheesy grin here. =->

Skylanders Hot Head Fondant Figure
Sooo...really I'm uploading all these pics to CC because I always come here to look for ideas and I thought, "I should give back a little." Hopefully some of my cakes will inspire others. This pic is two years old and I was up till 4 in the morning working on it.. =-< Fast forward to now and my son has requested another, skylanders cake. =-/ This time I have to do Spyro. I'm not doing a figure, I'll tell you that! =-P I think I'll to something easy. Butter cream transfer, here I come!!

Rainbow Bright Chocolate Transfer Cake
So I finally had a girl...which means I finally get to make a girly cake!! Woot! "Rainbow Bright! See the shining light! Starlight's looking for Rainbow Bri-i-ite!" Do you remember that song? I'm not even sure that's how it goes. But that's what I remember in my head. =-> Yes, that's her dragging her finger in it. Grandpa was giving her the whole cake! "Wait! I haven't taken a picture yet!"...besides she has her own smash cake. See? =->

Cute Ghost Trick Or Treating Cake
Another Halloween birthday cake for my little guy! My husband said about the ghost's mouth, "If you were trying to draw a whale, it's the best whale I've ever seen." Ha!! Do you see it? I do. ;-P Loved this cake too. Wish I would have put even more candy on it though. The kids at the party loved getting the suckers.

Hand Painted Batman Cake
OK, I must first say that before cakes, I had the artistic talent of a preschooler...Hmm...nope. I think preschoolers still drew better than me. But now?!? I don't know where it comes from. Poof! I can draw, I can paint, I can, well, make cake! This one was for my hubby! =->

R2D2 Cake Star Wars
Man did I almost give up on this cake. This was my 2nd attempt. I didn't dowel the first one correctly and it ended up sliding off the cake board into my fridge. =-< So after I called a cake store...crying...for a quote. I said, "No way am I paying that much money for a cake I can do myself!" Sniff. And I did it again. This time, the right way. =->

Pikachu Pokemon
Top is a cookie. Ash and Pika at the bottom are a piece of hand painted fondant. Cake is mostly buttercream with fondant accents. For the cookie, I just printed out a picture I liked, then cut it out with a butter knife, tracing the picture around the dough. And of course I bake sticks in it so I can easily put it into the cake. =->
