Hockey Puck Birthday Cake
I don't follow hockey, so I had no idea what team this was for when I made it! But I think it turned out OK. ************************************ 12 Mar 2011: Hi all, I've had a few people ask how I did the logo so I thought I'd share. First I printed the logo on paper, cut it out (slightly smaller than the white fondant) and laid it on top of the fondant. I then traced the picture's outline using a toothpick - pressing just hard enough to make an outline on the fondant underneath. After that was done, I painted the outline (with a very fine paint brush) using black food colouring (Wilton - I think). I also used edible gold paint to fill in the gold on the triangle (in the background). The whole tracing/painting part took a while, but if you have patience to stick with it, it will turn out ok!

This was my first attempt at making the chocolate cards to go around the outside of the cake. Next time I'll make them a bit thicker. The cake was 3 layers of vanilla, choc & vanilla with buttercream in between each layer. I can't claim fame to the decorations on top, my customer bought them herself.
