Luigi Birthday Cake
My 5 yo daughter wanted "Luigi in his helicopter suit riding a blue yoshi". She got it! :) In a moment of weakness I decided to cover the cake with buttercream. Bad decision. It was a big, tough cake to stack. I messed up a bit of the buttercream getting it together... but all in all I was quite pleased with the outcome. Decor is fondant and gum paste.

Backyardigans 2Nd Birthday Cake
I donât have much time to do cakes lately â so every time I do one â I try to challenge myself in some way. This time I decided to try some MMF characters. I had never made MMF before⦠so I wasnât quite sure what I was getting into. Mixing the individual colors seemed to take the longest time. I still didnât figure out how to get rid of all the creases⦠and some characters I didnât blend the color in long enough. And, after all the hours making the characters⦠I REALLY didnât spend enough time on the cake.

Mad Hatter
Alice in Wonderland Baby shower cake. My first try at a topsy turvy. The top two cakes turned out fine. The bottom tier however was red velvet (not a dense cake recipe :( It could not hold the weight of the icing and the side was cracking off at 2:00 AM the morning of the shower. OOPS! I wrapped it in plastic wrap (like a belt) and I re-iced and decorated it. So, in the end, served them side by side. No one knew the difference... but it made me sad.

Leftover Cake
Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Ganache filling, White Chocolate Clay covering. I had some leftover batter from the last cake I made and wanted to give the chocolate clay a shot. Also wanted to try ganache. This was my first attempt at both. Had to try it before the baby woke up this morning. Didn't have time to work the creases out of the clay... So I did a 2 min. piping job of leftover Ganache :)
