Sculpted Candy Apple Cake

This week we are Mixing-It-Up in the kitchen with a cake that looks like a Candy Apple! It’s the perfect cake to make for a festive fall themed table or birthday
LOOK DOWN BELOW for all the materials you’ll need:

WHAT YOU NEED:
Cake- bake a half-sheet and cut out three rings of cake- 2- 4.5″ and 1- 3.5″
Buttercream

MATERIALS
red powder
red gel
Vegetable shortening
Piping gel
*Pre-dyed fondant: red, lime green (or dye with gels)
Rolling pin
brushes
Paring Knife
Scalpel, ball tool
Lollipop stick
ribbon

*(Fondarific brand is suggested- http://fondarific.com)

STEPS:
1) Bake half-sheet cake and cut out rounds
2) Cut out cake base- 2.5″ round
3) Stack and frost in buttercream
4) Freeze cake
5) Roll-out (8oz ) lime green fondant
6) Cover cake
7) Dust cake with red petal dust
8) Put in stick
9) Cover in red fondant (strip- 11″ x 3″)
10) Cut out small ring base- 2.5″ round
11) Brush with piping gel and red color
12) Tie on bow
