What is the boby made out of?
its the body made of fondant paste?
Do you just do the wings on the film and then attach them to a separate body? That is how it looks... and as previously asked, what IS the body made of?? Very pretty, and looks reasonably easy to make!
YES THE BODY IS GUMPASTE . JUST ATTACH I ATTACHED IT WITH ROYAL ICING !
THANK YOU CAKE CENTRAL ; ))
You could also do this with chocolate, it would be more compatible with gelatin than royal icing. And it would be quicker :)
Awesome, awesome awesome!!!!!!! This is just an awesome project! I love this Gail, and your butterfly turned out beautiful! It is worthy of any stained glass piece that is cut from real glass.
These look just awsome !! welldone Gail
I saw on CWB that you are featured here! well done and thank you so much for your tutorial. I wil try it sometime ;) first I have to find some poweder gelatine here ;)
very nice I love Butterfly good job
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
thank you for sharing it's so amazing!!!!
Great butterfly! It looks like your wings are angled to the body when you attached them. How did you get them to set up like that? It looks like they would be drying flat when making them.
Does any one know if michaels sells the frisk film and gelatin??
I checked with Michael's and could not find it, the gal didn't even know what it was and I searched all over the store for it, no luck :( so I am going to try this with wax paper.
Beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing this
it looks wonderful. Can't wait to try it.
I can't wait to try this out. I don't know how well this would work with chocolate though like someone suggested, especially if its warm out. Might not be as rigid. Leauna , try looking for the plastic sheets that you can buy to make your own custom stencils, I know they sell that at Michaels. It's not exactly the same, but it's clear enough to see the image/stencil though it. Hope this helps you out a bit. :)
When do you attach the gum paste body with the wings?
How long does the royal have to dry before you fill it with gelatin. I made my royal with meringue powder and let it dry about 15 hours. After I put in the gelatin the royal started to break down. What did I do wrong?
I am thinking about trying this with a stencil of a peacock feather. Any recommendations on using multiple colors?
Anyone try with waxpaper? I live in a small rural town, cant get specialty stuff like that!! Need to make two cakes in the next few weeks with butterflies!
