started to sculp this in my first ever cake class by Chef Janet Ben Ami.
However i had to leave early before i even got to the cover in fondant part.
The uncovered cake survived my trip home and then after a very busy work week , finnaly got to finish it this weekend. Had to wing alot of it after missing out on quite a bit of instruction.
However reasonably pleased with the result.
and my 3rd cake made ever.

Max Where the Wild Things Are. Max is holding a artificial hip instead of a staff because this cake was for someone who was turning 40, LOVES Max and just had her hip replaced and that's what she requested he carry.

21st B-day cake for a young man who is a "Wild Bill Hickok" fan. I tried to study up on my history so that I could replicate Bill's gun, badge, hat, and clay poker chips. Of course the cards on the table are known as "dead man's hand" becuase these are the cards he was holding when he was shot. This cake is french vanilla with dark chocolate ganache filling and covered in chocolate buttercream frosting. All other design elements are made from modeling chocolate and marshmallow fondant.

Thanks to all CCers out there that did animal print cakes, it helped me out quite a bit! 8" and 10" rounds, carved sides, buttercream covered, fondant zebra stripes. I usually don't like putting things on my cakes that's not edible, but this was a rush order, and I like it!! ; )

This cake was made for a friends bridal shower. I was completely inspired by CC user daan1984 . I changed the colors to match what the bridesmaids are going to be wearing. Also I didn't have that lace flower cutter that was used in the original cake. I had to make each individual petal out of gumpaste then put them together using chocolate (very time consuming). I colored the gumpaste black for the flowers but it didn't seem dark enough when it dried so I used the gel coloring and painted all of the black petals.

This cake was done for a lady who works for a art gallery. They always give me free reign, which I love. The curls are sugar with disco dust mixed in. The cake is covered in fondant and then stamped with silver luster paint. The board is dusted with different shades of petal dust. The name is poured sugar.

This was my first Gumpaste Flower cake. I had a wonderful time making the flowers and making it look like a wild flower field. This was for 3 college grad's who are "Thriving wild flowers" hence the theme for the cake. My Sugar Cookie Cake with White chocolate ganache filling and frosting. Royal Icing piping and grass, Gumpaste flowers. School motto in Latin on the top tier and Englesh on the bottom tier.

I actually started out trying to make that cute valentine's cake with the pink monster that says "wild thing" but that was a disaster. So I scraped off all the pink icing and tried to make this from the Childrens' book "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak (the birthday theme was "wild thing").
